I got into a little "trouble" while commenting on this same subject a few weeks ago on the David Wilcox list, so, even though I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments, I will answer very succinctly. If elected, George W. Bush will not harm this country, Ralph Nader is a good man whose time has passed, and Al Gore will most likely continue with current economic and foreign policies, so he's my man on November 7. I was in Spain, France, Germany, England, Scotland and Wales this past summer and, in my opinion, if the Europeans were voting, Al Gore would be the landslide winner in this election. Again, thanks for asking! Sheligo" Subject: John & Lucy in Glenside, PA On Thursday evening, John, along with Lucy Kaplansky and Michael Manring, Alex diGrassi & Will Ackerman performed a benefit for the Greater Philadelphia, PA food bank at the Keswick Theater. The crowd was small, but enthusiastic. The Keswick management said the show was booked by an outside promoter as a rental in the theater, and the promoters did not publicize the event beyond one notice in the Keswick's mailing list. Even so, the house was about a third full (350 or so), and were treated to a great evening of music. The second half of the show featured John and Lucy in an improptu "jam" session with Michael Manring, who was awesome, and received several sustained ovations for his superb bass work. All the artists performed as if the house was full, giving their all. John sang Blue Chalk, When She Kisses Me, I Saw a Stranger With Your Hair, The Mercy of the Wheels, Lightening's Blues, Good Noise, and The Water is Wide as an encore. I love the way John and Lucy's voices blend together on the harmonies on their respective songs. John's lyrics are as multilayered as his vocal intonations; I just can't get enough of his music. Any opportunity to see John perform is a great thrill. If the Heartstrings for Hunger tour comes to your town, don't miss it. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 4 Nov 2000 12:33:32 -0500 From: "Steve McGraw" Subject: Re: John & Lucy in Glenside, PA Thanks, Beth; one of my sons and I will be leaving in a couple of hours to see John at the Birchmere tonight, and I hope our show's as good as yours sounded! Dear Jos, Thanks for asking. I've gotta go for Gore though I am tempted to vote for Nader. But alas, there is just too much riding on this in this evidently all-too-close election...and a vote for Nader may be a vote for Bush and all the evils in his corner...so Gore it is.
