Why bother? It is the music (lyric and melody) that matters, not what picking apart chord structure, harmony, rhythm...ad nauseam might do to enhance the joy. Even worse, what does it all Mean? What is the writer talking about? Who gives a rat's a**. No one with a life. For what it's worth, I am listening to The Sentinel, a tale about a worthy man who, I suspect, was lobotomized and became a shell of his former self. The line...'when they made the Francis plan, they took too much off the top' reminds me of the movie 'Francis', whose title character is played by the marvelous Jessica Lange. Francis was lobotomized, and Lange captures the horror of a wee slip of the knife. I think Gorka does too. This man, who traversed the 800 block of Seneca street, may have frightened the kids, but he watched over the block. He was The Sentinel. To me, Gorka has written a tale of recognizing individual differences and not screwing with other people's minds so they look and behave just like 'everyone else' ----all the other clones. What do you think? And later, an even cheaper analysis of 'Promnight in Pigtown' Wayne Renardson ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Nov 2000 22:21:03 -0500 From: "Steve McGraw" Subject: Re: Cheap Analysis Good (amateur?) analysis, Wayne. I wonder if this isn't one of those Gorka songs which is very short on symbolism and long on reality? Thanks!
