Hello everyone.

First off, thanks to all of you who have checked in at the new and improved 
Gorka site.  We appreciate your kind words and encouragement. If you have not 
been there yet, please visit and see what we have done.

If you like what you see, tell us.  If you don't like what you see, tell us 
that too. We want to keep the site fresh and interesting, so check back often 
and see what changes have been made. My favorite little piece of the whole 
site is the little guy at the bottom left of the That's Why Page...kind of a 
mascot for us. Check him out!

Now on to other things....forgive me if I sound too much like an online cyber 
type chick...but just who is on this list and who (or what) is a John Gorka 
fan? I think we did this once some time ago, but it might be nice to do it 
again...a sort of age/gender check? 

I am on other email lists and I gotta tell you, this one is the quietest. Is 
there something to this? Does it say something about John's music that his 
fans have not much to say? There are a couple mouthy broads here ( right 
Susan?) and a couple active American type guys and then there is the King of 
all Gorka fans, Jos in Holland......is that it?

Just some musings on a cold, fall afternoon. For what it's worth.
Age/gender check:

Paula Bryn Benson, live in the Chicago area, 45 years old female who finally 
figured out what she wants to be when she grows up. I am a stay-home-mother 
by choice, and I also work out of the house for a not-for-profit 
organization.  I am the left hand to the administrator...which means I do 
anything she can't or doesn't want to or doesn't know how to do.  It is a 
great job, flexible hours and affords me being home with my son who is the 
light that lights my life. I also am a music junkie and finally found a way 
to feed the habit by hosting house concerts. If you would like to be on that 
email list, let me know privately and I will put you on.

Damn, I hope this generates some good noise out there....is anyone out there?

Hi Bryn,

I am Gail, my Levi is featured on the gypsy life web page, I appreciate that
you and Susan would allow his little light to shine on your site.
I have 3 other children, Schy is 13 and Kealan  is 7, Tristan is 4.
I worked in psychiatric social work for many years and now I write for a
local paper, its very flexible, I write from home and cover school boards,
village boards and human intrest as well as a little news like election
stories.
I am 40, live in the middle of Nebraska and have listened to JG for a decade
I think starting with a cassette of Jack's Crows and everything since.

OK, Bryn, you know more about me than anyone needs (or wants) to know. But 
here goes for everyone else.

My name is Susan Finn, I am 48 years old, wife, mother of three, ages 12, 10 
and almost 6 (my Timmie, the light of MY life). I am a transplanted 
Californian who has lived in Wisconsin for five years. I am enjoying the 
midwest but miss the Pacific Ocean and California eccentrics. I grew up near 
San Francisco in the 1960's and have always hung around great musicians. Not 
quite the music junkie Bryn is, but music was always around.

I am the personal assistant (gofer...?) to the President of the International 
Crane Foundation in Baraboo, WI, a non-profit organization dedicated to the 
preservation of cranes and their habitats worldwide. I interact with people 
all over the world all day long via email and I love that part of the job but 
the rest is pretty routine. Not what I expected to be doing with my life but 
jobs are slim pickings in Wisconsin! I always hoped to find time between 
babies to write and envy those who do.

I am partial to listening only to John Gorka music and by default, whatever 
boy bands my preteen daughter brings into the house, although Bryn is 
introducing me to new folk music constantly. No one gets to me like Mr. 
Gorka's music does, however. My husband says he hooks you with just one song 
that is pertinent to something happening in your life at the moment you hear 
your first Gorka tune. After that, you just have to hear more. I try to turn 
him off, really I do!

I have been online since 1987 when I got my first home computer and 
subscribed to Prodigy, hoping to find what the Internet is now today...but 
wasn't back then. I drove my only two friends with email crazy, writing them 
constantly. And one lived only just down the street! Now I can't keep up with 
my online pals who have proven to be really good friends, like Bryn. In my 
spare time I like to play around with web page design and desktop publishing.

Now you all now more than you needed or wanted to know about me!
