I think Manring's part on that song is really fantastic. I would echo the suggestion (somewhere on this thread) that Mortal Groove's bass line is phenomenal. I saw Gorka and Manring a few years ago -- maybe the best Gorka show I've been to. His lines just fill the right spots on the songs. Enjoy! Quoting Martin : > Welcome to the list Wayne. Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer will be at the Ten Pound Fiddle Coffeehouse tomorrow (Friday, October 27) in East Lansing, Michigan. The concert starts at 8:00 -- the dooors open at 7:30. I pulled these next two quotes from another list I'm on: "Every now and then an folk act can succeed in creating a major buzz, and if anyone is poised to do that now, it has to be Dave and Tracy. Dave Carter is writing some of the most original and captivating songs in the business, mixing more influences and experiences into the stew than anyone else I can recall. Their current CD release, Tanglewood Tree, displays the full range of this diversity. In person, they charmed this Ohio audience. Carter's entertaining storys set up the songs perfectly, and he split his time between guitar and banjo, proving himself equally adept at both. Tracy Grammer is the quiet one, but her lead and harmony vocals blend perfectly with Carter's, and my, oh my can she make her violin talk! She's no slouch on mandolin and guitar either. "Leaving the show, the audience buzz was pronounced. They saw something special on stage this night, and you will too if you make it a point to catch them on this tour. These folks have a hell of a future in front of them, even if Dave's expressed ambition is to live in a trailer in the desert and just write songs." and "Innovative, literate, compelling writing. Great stories. Fabulous harmonies & vocal counterpoint. Go see them play. Drive for hours if you have to." _________________________________ E-mail me for additional details, if you'd like, or visit the Fiddle website at: http://www.tenpoundfiddle.org.
