I pretty much saturated Ellis Paul's list with Richard talk, and vice versa. The man is AMAZING! I'm assuming that you bought "Somewhere Near Paterson"? I just saw Richard play last Friday night. It was my first time to see him, and all I can say is that the show wasn't nearly long enough! Go see him if you get a chance, and buy the rest of the CDs, you won't be disappointed! He did the a song called the big muddy. Very cool rendition, liked it better than the original. Man i have never listened to an album (somewhere near patterson) that i didnt skip at least one song. it is FANTASTIC. I am in awe of his talent the same way i am of Gorka, and that says a lot. This was a great find. Now i gotta try wilcox and kaplansky like all of you say to =) Gorka was my first folk discovery and now im finding lost more. Have a good night. I was even a little afraid to buy another one, for fear that this was some sort of fluke and the others wouldn't be as good. Not so. I bought "Reunion Hill" next and like it maybe even a teeny tiny bit better than "Somewhere Near Paterson", and THAT, is saying a lot. :-) SMOKEY Bless your sweet mistakes, That crumble you down to your knees. Richard and John were in the same band (Razzy Dazzy Spasm Band) in college, so it may not be much of an accident that you stumled into him. I had gotten up early on a Saturday morning and took the time to listen to the tape and (especially) the new material. I wept. It may be hard to imagine, but the song is even better in concert (with Richard all by himself). Pat ------------------------------ End of good-noise-digest V3 #40 *******************************
