Jos: I am a "MegaGorka" fan and listen to his music incessantly, but I'm in the last nine days of my re-election campaign and won't be able to communicate on this list, or others, until after November 2. As many of the other REAL David Wilcox and John Gorka fans know, I'm REALLY looking forward to returning to this type of endeavor from campaigning. To that end, please play JG's "Campaign Trail" over and over, at least 500 times, as I have done in the past six months, and you'll get a feel for why I can't wait to get off the campaign trail and back to "talking" with the rest of you and going to concerts and doing other real-life things! Soon . . . Last night's concert in Madison was fabulous! I am still riding on a high thinking of him singing "I Saw a Stranger with your Hair." Every song he chose was just wonderful. My husbamd yelled out for him to sing "I Know" when he was asking for suggestions and he said "I don't know that one!" He was so funny. He has the greatest sense of humor. I just laughed all night. We had great third row center seats, sat mezmerized watching him (this is the second time we've seen him) and were very sad when it was over. The main act was Greg Brown who I enjoyed but not nearly as much. My husband and I kept saying to each other, "Isn't he adorable?" He was SOOOOO wonderful. So then we started walking down the hall to the party and there he was in the hall, signing autographs. I was so excited, it was like seeing the Beatles for me! My husband was very awkward but I am gutsy so we walked right up and started chatting. I told him he was wonderful and he said that was good to hear, etc. So humble! I said hi to John for Bryn here on this board and he of course knew who she was and I mentioned the Good Noise board and he has heard about it. He even knew about the McDonald's Happy Meal posts! He is so shy! We even posed for photos. I told him I owned all his CDs so we didn't have anything for him to sign which is what everyone else was doing! We talked about his son, and the new baby coming and that his wife is a naturalist. I work for the International Crane Foundation and his wife was writing something about Sandhill Cranes he said. Anyway, I was nervous as heck (and he seemed so too) but kept gushing about how much we loved his music. I forgot to ask about the prison songs. He did sing a new song I've never heard called "People Like Me" about getting old which was great. Absolutely hysterical. Have any of you heard it? Anyway, then we went to the party and you could tell he was really shy but people kept him engaging him in conversation. Greg Brown, on the other hand, seemed kind of surly and left. We went over to say goodbye to John and I wished him good luck with the new baby. He was just a doll. He stood up from his autograph signing and shook our hands. I also took some photos of him at the party and I snuck in three photos at the end of the show too.....I can be gutsy when I really want something! I felt like such a teenybopper though. It turned out they really had no way of keeping anyone out of this party so anyone who wandered down the hall could have probably slipped in and not been thrown out! I knew about 3 people there so it was like a private party for me and lots of fun. I kept staring at John like a dork and taking photos! My husband and I gushed all the way home, agreeing it was one of the best nights we ever had. We are just crazy about him and his music too of course! We may just have to become Gorka groupies and follow him around!!!!! You are so fortunate to have had such a great JG experience. I still haven't heard/seen him live! I just became a JG fan about nine months ago and have had to miss two or three opportunities to attend one of his concerts (I even gave away two tickets I had purchased to see him in the D.C. area back in the summer because I had a schedule conflict), but in nine more days, this election will be over, and then I'm going to correct this and some other situations I've been enduring . . .
