It is produced for NJ Public television using NJ state grants, I believe, and highlights artists who are from or living in NJ. I don't think it gets National Distribution, although viewers in parts of PA, DE or NY might be able to catch it. I found it will be shown twice this weekend: Saturday, July 10 at 11:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 11 at 6:00 p.m. The description reads: "Featured: folk artists John Gorka, Guy Davis and the trio Hesperus." Hope this helps. Brett and Jodi Carter wrote: > Do you have the name of the show? Maybe it's national? > > -----Original Message----- > From: Beth C. I just saw John in Stillwater Minnesota in a concert along the St. Croix River at Lowell Park. A threat of rain turned into sprinkles on the opening act and caused havoc with the sound system for John, but it was an absolutely wonderful setting for a Gorka show. Many in the crowd were tourists or town folks who came out for the Chamber of Commerce sponsored free shows in the park, so they did not know John's music. But there seemed to be quite a few in attendance like myself who were diehard fans. He played those songs that we all know him for and made my six year old giggle with delight when he sang the Body Part Medley (Butt being his favorite word these days) Even though a few people in the crowd seemed to be there to socialize instead of hear music, the place turned silent when John went to the piano and played Houses In The Fields. The new song, People My Age really brought a smile to my gravity hindered body. There I was celebrating my 44th birthday and feeling pretty old.....ahhh, leave it to John to find just the right words for how I was feeling. Highlight of the evening, was talking to him before the show and then after.....with his son on his lap. Little Bosephus has his papa's eyes. John looked quite content sitting on the edge of the stage with that boy on his knee. It was one of those rare glimpses into his personal life. As a fan, I sometimes feel like I know him because I hear his music so much in my life. I don't know him though. It was a wonderful show of trust to have his son there with him as fans came to mingle and have autographs signed and pictures taken with the boy. Be well all. Enjoy our concert under the stars as much as I did mine. (((Beth))) Big hugs for you for giving us the heads up on this one! Whatta Gorka weekend this is!!! I did manage to tape it. Even though the segment is only about 8 or 9 minutes long, if anyone wants to send me a blank video, I'll be happy to run it off for you!! Bryn - Wanted to say thanks for sharing the story about the Gorka show you recently saw in Stillwater. Nice to hear little Bocephus was in attendance :) And, happy belated birthday! LOL - I mentioned to my husband that I'd be meeting a couple people from the list tomorrow (or tonight), and his reply "You mean there's more people like you out there" (meaning Gorkaholics). YUP! It's nice to know I'm not alone! Peace, Kris ------------------------------ End of good-noise-digest V2 #86 *******************************
