After the show, in response to my question, she said John Gorka sings on one of the songs on her forthcoming Red House Records release, "Ten Year Night." The album is due in stores March 16. The song Gorka backs her on is titled "Waltz With Me," I believe. She did not perform that tune last night. Gorka fans recognize Lucy as one of John's primary backing vocalists and he returned the favor on Lucy's "Flesh & Bone" album with a fine harmony part on "If You Could See." You should have seen Lucy's face light up when I asked her about John and she told me how happy she was with the way the song turned out. She's a darn good songwriter herself, and collaborates with her husband, Rick Litvin, on much of her original work. For those of you in the Washington area -- if any -- Lucy will be playing solo at the Barns of Wolf Trap March 25, and she said Cry Cry Cry is booking even more summer festivals. By way of mention, I first heard Lucy as an opening act for a Gorka concert at the Barns several years ago. They sang together on stage and it was incredibly good. My 13-year-old daughter and I have been fans ever since then. - -- Jay Votel ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 28 Jan 1999 11:50:30 EST From: SpecGlobal@aol.com Subject: Re: Gorka on new Kaplansky album Jay: Your post didn't mention how Lucy's show went. How was it? For those in the NYC area, Lucy will be live on WFUV (90.7 FM) this coming Monday at 2:00 PM with Meg Griffin. She is also playing Heightstown, NJ this coming Saturday and at Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY next Sunday night. If you haven't seen Lucy in person (especially with her material from the upcoming album) you are really missing something special. I'll bet anything that John would agree.... Jay, where in Rockville did she play?! I have seen Lucy and John together once (or twice maybe?) at Mays Chapel Coffeehouse in Timonium, just north of Baltimore. I don't know of any upcoming Lucy appearances there, but if that should be the case, I'll let you know. I knew Lucy's name but really noticed her voice the first time I listened to...gosh...was it _Temporary Road_ ? The brain cells are fading. I'd love to see them together at the new Ram's Head Onstage in Annapolis. Karen ------------------------------ End of good-noise-digest V2 #14 *******************************
