It's a wonderful thing that I appreciate like you have no idea! The reason? I live in Northern Italy (although born/grew up in France and became a Gorka fan in my 10yrs in the US thanks to my husband Dave), so you can imagine we can keep looking for a while before fishing out the last album anyhwhere close to here!. Maybe one of Santa's packages is still on its way from the other side of the Atlantic (just received one sent on Dec. 12th... Please do not complain about US mail!). Oh well, I'll try not to be too jealous of the lucky ones who have seen John Gorka live recently... and we'll keep planning our holidays in the US to try to intersect with one of the concert locations... Thanks again for the list and news Auguri di felice nuovo anno a tutti !! (i.e. Best wishes for a happy new year to you all) Ciao Cath. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Jan 1999 01:25:39 EST From: ThePsyche@aol.com Subject: Re: testing Cath, Welcome to the list and what a great story! I think we ought to work on getting John to come to your side of the ocean! Do you think there are any other Gorka fans in your part of the world? So, which CDs do you own, which songs do you play over and over? And of course the all important girl question...which picture is your favorite of that great looking boy? Welcome to the list! For sure! I'm from Sweden myself and have had no problems in getting all the records. My local store, by the way big on the internet, has got them all. I got to know John Gorka because his name appeared on a lot places where artists I admire appear. On CD:s, on lists etc. First and foremost on the Phil Ochs list. Decided to try one of his records and the rest is history. To me he is one of the very few great artists to have appeared since the "great ones" from the golden days. I'm hitting 50 next year and the great ones for me are Phil Ochs, John Stewart and Harry Chapin. I used to play a lot myself and find it very nice to try to figure out the way John Gorka does his thing. He is really a magnificent guitarplayer. But you already know that! Well, just a short hallo, so that you know that there are Gorka-fans even up here in the north! (Excuse the bad spelling and strange language!) See you all on the first Gorka-consert in Sweden! Yep! I'm a Gorka fan living in Norway. Got into the Gorka stuff through the music of David Wilcox (Anders; romours says that Wilcox is married to a swedish lady!!!) and The Story (Jonatha Brooke/Jennifer Kimball). I got all Gorkas cd's from CDnow. Never seen one in a norwegian shop. My favourite albums is "Jack's Crows" and "Temporary Road". As far as I know John Gorka has never been to Norway, but if he shows up (or in Sweden), i'll be there for sure!!!
