[Chris Thorpe ] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Tue, 20 Oct 1998 10:53:13 -0400 From: Chris Thorpe Subject: John's new album is released today! Pulled this from the "Country" music section of new releases from ICE magazine's web site: << OCTOBER 20 Deana Carter - Everything's Gonna Be Alright (Capitol) Danni Leigh - 29 Nights (Decca) Chad Brock - Chad Brock (Warner Bros.) Mac Wiseman, Doc Watson and Del McCoury - Mac, Doc and Del (Sugar Hill) Doug Sahm - SDQ `98 (Watermelon/Sire) VA - Real: The Tom T. Hall Project (featuring Johnny Cash, Kelly Willis, Iris DeMent, Ralph Stanley, Whiskeytown and others) (Watermelon/Sire) Paul Burch & the WPA Ballclub - Wire to Wire (Checkered Past) John Gorka - After Yesterday (Red House) >> I have had the album for a couple of weeks now, picked it up at a show, I think this is one of John's stronger albums. It seems to have a more intimate sound, with less production. I am particularly fond of the first six songs, some of this best writing. As for John being listed in the country section of ICE, where do you generally find John's CDs in your local stores? I generally see his CDs mixed in with the Pop/Rock section of my local stores. Last thing, John should really consider recording the song "Jeannie C". I have heard him perform this live twice, and he sings this with such strong emotion, it is quite beautiful. - -- chris ------------------------------ End of good-noise-digest V1 #28 *******************************
