( not to many of those around anymore) It was a CD from the Mountain Stage radio show and the song was Gypsy Life. I was at particularly low point in my life, in my marriage, etc. (the details are not important.) The important thing is that I rediscovered how music can fuel the spirit and had begun returning to that place of my youth, headphone heaven. At the end of a busy day, after the little boy was in bed and the house was dark and quiet, I would light some candles and put in the evening's selection. On one particular night I put on that compilation, the third song was Gypsy Life. I remember how clear and rich that voice was and how it resonated in my head. I remember the lyrics, the journey into life that song takes you on. I hit repeat and played it over and over. As soon as the budget allowed I went and bought Temporary Road. Shortly there after and in succession I bought all his CDs. Each one holds a special place in my head and heart. All of them sit on the kitchen counter and get their most play while I am fixing meals for the family. I have shared his music with many other, family and friends and will admit that sometimes I use their like ( or dislike) of Gorka as a benchmark to how much of me I will share with them. My husband and I will celebrate 20 years of marriage (phew, we made it) attending the November 20th show in Pittsburgh. I thank the stars for that night alone in my living room, headphones on, and that voice in my psyche. It is the one song John does in concert that is guaranteed to bring me to tears. I am glad you started this thread JVotel. It is a good one. Adios, Bryn ------------------------------ End of good-noise-digest V1 #23 *******************************
