Red House has been selling them direct via mail order right away... so my dilemma is this... I've been looking to buy an album by someone I know virtually nothing about... Richard Shindell... I've been thinking about ordering Reunion Hill. But I'm not sure whether I should spend the money *with exchange rates and all it works out to something like $23 for each cd..so I'm not sure whether to order John's new album or Richard Shindell's... Does anyone have any suggestions? Argh.. frustration deciding where to spend my limited funds *I'm a university student.* Please advise, Thank you! I bought Shindell's "Reunion Hill", and after listening to it for one day, immediately went out and ordered his other two, "Blue Divide" and "Sparrows Point". Shindell is an excellent choice! I'm not going to make your decision any easier - but, I'd definitely give the thumbs up to "Reunion Hill"! (hint: not the Richard Shindell list) Just teasing you there. A dilemna huh? Well, I have all of John's CDs, including his newest which I love more each day and only one of Shindell's. I bought his because, like you, I had heard his name mentioned around and read that he was a good listen. I bought it and never connected with it at all. Don't get me wrong, his music may be enjoyable to some, for me it just didn't grab the psyche and take hold. John's music, on the other hand, did that to me from the very first song I heard. I was given a compilation CD and his song on it was Gypsy Life. It was a live version and I would put the headphones on and listen to that crips, clear, baritone voice and be amazed at the beauty. The lyrics also pulled me in. So, if you REALLY want an opinion, buy any Gorka CD, but I gotta say, this new one, After Yesterday is pretty special. It still holds some of that dark moodiness so trademark of Gorka's music, as well as the humorous ones...but quite a few show an emerging joy. I think Fatherhood agrees with him. Buy Gorka, and wait on SHindell and study hard! Adios, Bryn ------------------------------ End of good-noise-digest V1 #17 *******************************
