I got my new Gorka CD, After Ysterday and all I can say is.......wonderful. He has a couple that I have heard before in concert: Thorny patch, Cypress Trees and When He Cries. The rest are all new to these eyes and ears and are very welcome. It made my day, cooking spagetti, breeze floating in the window and new Gorka music to fill the psyche. Some songs have a new sound with alot of karen Savoca type percussion. Lucy Kaplansky sings back up and the harmonies are wonderful. It is good music and now I can not wait to hear some of them live! Both Tower Records and Borders have told me it will not be in until 10/20/98. 1-800-EVERY-CD has no listing for it at all. This is really frustrating! Sorry, I threw the # away but if you check their site out online you can get it, call them and they will send it out. It is wonderful. I hope some of you will take the opportunity to get it early! I have done that twice now. A couple times a year my best friend and I head out for a Gorka journey. Lat winter, we headed into Wisconsin and caught John's shows. Friday night in Madision and then the next night in Amherst. Both shows were excelent differnt, but each good performances. Some of the banter was the same and of course, some of the songs were repeats of the night before, but then, I repeat his music week in and week out so that is nothing new. In June we did it again, and again it was Wisconsin. I live near Chicago which is lucky for me since John seems to be spending a good deal of time in the midwest these days. We caught his show in Cedarburg Friday night and then Saturday he played at a neat little bar in Chicago. That was the first time for me seeing John in a bar and it was a nice venue. Seeing him as often as I have over the last year, it is interesting to watch how a performer connects ( or doesn't) with the audience. John connects, he uses humor to break down the barriers and then his music does the rest to draw people in. Anyone else planning to see him soon? I would love to hear a concert review. Enough for now. Adios, Bryn ------------------------------ End of good-noise-digest V1 #14 *******************************
