The evening's first show, which ran about 1 1/2 hours, was packed with hardcore fans and a few celebs (Maverick label president Madonna, Chris Rock and a very enthusiatic Joan Osborne) and they weren't disappointed. Me'shell performed songs from her new album "Bitter", which was ironic as she seemed quite happy actuall (except for a few pointed comments about her Lilith Fair experience ["...only one Black performer per day..."]. Me'shell's live performance showed the strong influence of Bitter's producer, Craig Street, who is probably best known for his work with Cassandra Wilson. Her sound was more mellow and introspective than on her previous records, yet still with a strong, head bobbing groove. I'd highly recommend picking up the record and checking her out live if you get a chance." - - Jimmy Saal, BRC Director of Operations Peace, B. - -------------------------------------------------- BRYAN THOMAS. One of the best records of the year. And he's a member of this list!
