I finally got my hands on a copy of Me'Shell's new cd-BITTER! :) I must warn you before you listen to this cd, in order to feel it faster, you must keep in mind it is NOT another PL or PBP cd!! If you go in thinking (like I did initially) that is what you are going to hear you will probably not get nor like her new CD. Its Me'Shell's music taken in yet another direction. I made this mistake and didn't "get" the music on it at first but after a 2nd and 3rd listen I started to feel where this cd was coming from. I'd say its a defiantly more love themed cd and the nice guitars throughout the cd give it a rockish feel. Her song writing judging by the lyrics seems to show that she dug deep within herself to express the many aspects/emotions of love that she has experienced throughout her. The better songs on the CD really show this such as "Sincerity" and especially "Loyalty". The later song "Loyalty" is one of my favs on the CD right now and I think it really could get some rotation on VH1 (at least). This is the one song I think could *maybe* make a commercial hit on today's fickle music market. The song deals with childhood reflection of an obviously past lover. There is a great Jimi Hendrix cover (I think) "May This Be Love" with its eloquent lyrics and moody music. This song really pulled me into the cd. Wendy's guitar (of Prince protegees Lisa & Wendy) helps to accent the title track "Bitter". Also, I felt the emotion behind "Sincerity" which describes a one sided love affair. For me this is the type CD you play with you significant other and/or just to wanna chill and relax to. I'd say go out and buy it to at least judge for yourself. If you give it a fair chance you will see it is well worth it! check out her web site at http://www.meshell.com Patrick (who is thankful for the "advanced copies" floating around) "A mother's heart's been shattered, told her daughter to beware, both secrets and dreams you should never share...trust only in change, 'cause hearts change, but betrayal always feels the same...but with him she found loyalty." - From 'Loyalty' by Me'shell N'degeOcello on the upcoming cd BITTER ------------------------------ End of god-shiva-digest V2 #50 ******************************
