I dunno why but I cant just wisten to the damn thing me gots to wiggle and shout along alot, I try to keep the airinstrumentalist parts to a minimum while driving but ya know bass and that Gene figure on drums make it oh so 'ard.. ..anyways, (or getting back on track with the subject line..) Outside your door is one of my habsolute favourites (along with all the rest ;) and the "build to" and guitarsolo just phreak'd me (..again)!! Im not up to par on this Alec Hayden(sp?) figure. Can someone shed some light on him and maybe recommend something else of him. I do know that Joan Baez has recorded it. Does anyone have any more information they could send my way? Speaking of Common, is anyone in the D.C. area planning on checking out his show with the Roots next month? I'm thinking about going... Also, does anyone have an opinion on Cassandra Wilson's _After the Beginning Again_? - --Michael NP: Wu-Tang Clan, _Wu-Tang Forever_ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Feb 1999 13:32:36 -0500 From: Michael Yarbrough Subject: BOUNCE: puh-leeeeez, people The following message bounced on its way to god-shiva. - ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "meshell fan" Subject: puh-leeeeez, people! I'd normally reply to Michael privately, but my info is sketchy, so I'm hoping someone else here can provide more. >having trouble determining a) if Stevie ever recorded it Good question! Stevie does not record all his songs... for example: The best known version of his "Since We've Ended As Lovers" is Jeff Beck's soaring instrumental cover, and the *only* person to perform the song with lyrics is his former wife, Syreeta Wright (the song was written about their divorce), although Syreeta's release has been long out-of-print. >and b) if so, on what album it appeared In this case, you're in luck, as I believe Stevie has several releases with this song, although there is only one am I absolutely *sure* is still in print: 1. "Where I'm Coming From" (1971)"... his first totally self-produced album, I'm not sure if this was ever re-released in CD format... I've only seen this in vinyl at used-record shops. 2. "The Wonder of Stevie" (1998)... 4-CD box set containing 71 'greatest' songs, including some new song versions with Babyface, Herbie Hancock and Wyclef Jean. 3. "Love Songs - 20 Classic Hits" Still in print? 4. "Stevie Wonder's Greatest Hits Vol. 2" Still in print? I think it also appears on the Poetic Justice (1993) soundtrack. I think you're referring to Allen Cato (Me'shell's guitarist). Previous to touring with Me'Shell Allen had a video out called "I Get A Buzz" (under the name "CATO"). I haven't been able to verify if he ever released an album under his name, but if he did it's out of print and very hard to find. But I have been told that the song "I Get A Buzz" was included on an album by Cassserine titled "GOTTA GET TO KNOW ME" (Haven't heard it myself.) He has also recorded a few tracks with Me'shell and appears on Chaka Khan's "Epiphany: The Best of Chaka Khan" cd. ------------------------------ End of god-shiva-digest V2 #14 ******************************
