Yeah, I picked up the CD today. "My Soul Don't Dream" is tight. It's got a great heavy bluesy feel. I couldn't help but to wonder after hearing this... what does that Hendrix project Me'shell recorded sound like!!!?? I hope she does some more stuff like this on her next album. And the rest of the soundtrack is pretty good too. My next favorite track is by D'Angelo, who has a live cover of the Ohio Players "Heaven Must Be Like This" on the album. Also tracks by: Jazzyfatnastees Featuring The Roots (unfortunately, no rap from Black Thought), Stevie Wonder, The Leverts, Luther Vandross, Tony Thompson, Chaka Khan ('Don't Talk 2 Strangers" which is on her album as well), Sounds of Blackness, Sweet Honey In the Rock, etc. It's about time that there was a soundtrack with a bunch of good songs on it! Usually Me'shell and D'angelo have cuts that end up on soundtracks, and I miss out on them cause I don't want to pay $16, $17 bucks for one song. >P.S. It's not produced by David Gamson, (who's production style I like a >lot) This one's produced by a guy named Craig Street...and judging from >THIS cut, I like HIS production style as well. I don't know if this is a >permanent change, or just a one shot thing. I guess we'll see. That's an interesting thought. David Gamson is a great producer, and I'd love to hear him work with Me'Shell again. On the other hand, he has a pretty distinct style, so if she worked with someone else on the new album it'd definitely add some variety. ------------------------------ End of god-shiva-digest V1 #56 ******************************
