Police Brutality Wyclef Jean, Goodie moB., and Reggie Gaines (writer of the musical "Bring In 'Da Noise, Bring In 'Da Funk) are among the hip-hop luminaries who have joined the fight against police brutality. Teaming with the Oct. 22 Coalition, a loose collection of grass-roots political groups, the artists are appearing in a series of videos that dramatize what the coalition describes as the ever-increasing problem of police violence. The Coalition -- which includes such organizations as the Artists Network of Refuse & Refuse and Stolen Lives Project -- is asking all U.S. citizens to join the protest against alleged police abuses by wearing black on Oct. 22; the group is also planning rallies and marches to take place on that day in 50 cities across America. The Coalition is negotiating with MTV and BET for free air time to run any of the group's 17 public service announcements. (Paid slots have already been booked at BET, and national cable syndicate Free Speech TV, which goes out to 7 million homes, has already donated air time.)
