First of all, Michael..great choice of titles.... and Derek, thanx for the heads up on D'angelo..I cannot wait..I'm a huge fan of his too!! Now back to ms meshell....I first heard Meshell, believe it or not on the RADIO! They were playing "Dreadlock" and I was like what kind of song is this?? At first listen I was not impressed...then I saw the video for dreadlock on BET and the obsession began. I immediately got the PL cd and absolutely loved it. It changed my life. I had never heard grooves, passion, poetry and funk put together in this way...and BY A SISTA at that!! From that day in November of I believe, 1995 -I've been called "obsessed", "a stalker", "groupie" you name it. I knew that this was someone who was "Real" and I connected with her spirit, through her music immediately. Like April, I was completely taken by her amazing lyrics, "make love to another just to ease the pain"..who of us has not done this at one time? Three years and a cd later, I'm even more obsessed than ever before...like fine wine, she simply gets better with age!!! ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Sep 1998 08:25:47 PDT From: "carla fisher" Subject: Plantation VS Peace I know this is a RIDICULOUS request but........ I choose PEACE simply bcause it is a masterpiece that speaks to me on EVERY level. It's funky, sexy, groovy, sad, upbeat, funny, soulful, jazzy, political, angry, mature and did I mention amazing!! This is Bashir at her best,..I would be completely content on the island, because I'm in love with this cd!!! jazzc1 ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Sep 1998 09:47:42 -0700 From: apryl@mail-me.com Subject: RE: Plantation VS Peace << 'carla fisher' Wrote on Mon, 28 Sep 1998 08:25:47 PDT ------------------ I know this is a RIDICULOUS request but........ Meshell's sophmore work simply showed her progression as an artist. I am very curious were her third cd will go. When the hell is it coming out. It's to hard to even say...but if I really had to chose I would make a mixed-taped and have all her soundtrack song on one side and Plantation Lullabies on the other. I love Peace, but it's a bit more diffuse to me. I have grown to like Peace a lot more lately, but it still strikes me more as a masterful execution of an existing form, while PL digs out its own territory. - --Michael ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Sep 1998 20:52:02 -0400 From: "Stacey A.
