So here goes... I heard 'If That's Your Boyfriend', and thought the bass playing was kewl. I was impressed, but there are a lot of musicians out there. Maybe 6 months later, the local radio station was playing 'Outside Your Door', and I was hooked! I immediately decided to get this album, as I liked what I heard: the versatility, and the lyrics were enough to get my attention. The CD arrived in the mail, and I drove to my cousin's house for a weekend visit, along with my grandmother. There were times when I had to sit still, and couldn't leave the house (my grandmother was nearly 100years old, and it was a small town. It was a restful weekend). My cousin has a PC, and was showing me what she has on it. I have more knowledge of PC's, but didn't have one of my own. Ooo wweeee.. she could play a CD from her PC, while she was typing!!! I cracked open the plastic on my CD, and put it in the holder, labeled all the tracks, set it to shuffle, and let 'er rip. I was relaxed, but listening, and soothed by the music. Each piece fit with the next, while being different entirely. The ONLY thing consistent was the breathy contralto voice and the base. I played that CD over and over again (I had taken about 15 with me, she has a collection, and other family members in the area have huge collections.. but only ONE needed to be heard). Then I bought the Panther Soundtrack.. and when I heard MNO's voice, I shouted 'that's HER!, that's HER!'...next was my seeing the movie 'Higher Learning', and again, she had done it. I was hooked after hearing that first album, especially the words 'Just another lonely heart, here on a lonely night. Screams of passion as I call out your name, making love to another just to ease my pain' -- and so far, she has NOT let me down one bit. When will the rest of the world acknowledge her talent?? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pax, Apryl apryl@mail-me.com Always a GIRLFRIEND!
