In combination with other fun in Hotlanta, I visited Borders for Jo's appearance last Sunday, and a lovely time was had by all. She was her usual enthused and charming self this third time she has graced the South in 4 years. Usually there is a die-hard fan in our audiences, so the young fellow from South Carolina named Greg got a mention and greeting from her as well as a thanks for a bracelet and some pajamas he sent her that she adores. She did: Linger Digging Your House I'll Take It From Here and then added Blood From a Stone Her voice was strong, clear, and her dynamics were just beautiful. I am so awestruck by the ease in which she plays and picks those really intricate chord progressions which are anything but simple. She engaged and flirted as she sang too. What great right/left brain coordination she has... She said she and her sound man Paul Mitchell had just flown in from Cancun for a beachside junket that was "Awful...just awful..." where the radio personalities do requisite interviewing and must really be bored. She said she came back with sand everywhere and in everything. She did have a bit of sun glow about her, cute as ever in her Starsky and Hutch blue T-shirt and flowered pants. I have nice photos if anyone wants to see. Just email me. I don't guess the system here allows for posting of visuals. She commanded the attention of everyone in the store as well as the 70 or so of us who came to hear her. Lots of CD's were bought as about 60 folks lined up to have her sign them. She will be back to the Peach State with her band in either April or May. I asked her if she would bring Neil Finn too, and she laughed and said "Sure! I'll call him and say, 'Come play with us!' ", and she did a "be still my heart" kind of gesture as indicative of her adoration of him. The songs are growing on me. I like best her two duet pieces and feel like dancing to the groove on the title track. It makes me happy.
