She gave a great little performance. Didn't keep a set list, but Digging, Your House, and of course Linger were in there. She signed an awful lot of stuff, and I got to have a picture taken with her. Then she appeared on the best station around here, KMTT for a two song deal. During the show, she asked if there were any questions. The Grammies came up, and she thought it odd that Shelby Lynn (sp) received best new artist when she's been knocking around for about 15 years. Someone in the audience said that JB would have to go country to win. She was all for it until she realized she would have to wear a cowboy hat and ugly boots. She also had some things to say about Eminem. Not much, but said she didn't understand all the crotch grabbing. (grabbing her own for emphasis) She knew he had one under there somewhere, that we all had one. She had us roaring. Paul was off to the side kind of hiding his face. Paul was fun to watch set up. He's down on the floor, singing away with JB playing over the store speakers. What a great job. I bought the Borders SE CD. Haven't had the chance to listen to the extra cuts. I did listen to the French version of How Deep Is Your Love. Very nice. The guy sitting next to me at the show, who apparently is very popular and has a very exciting and vivacious life, told everyone it was a Spanish version. Anyway, Jonatha was delightful and I hope my taking pictures didn't bug her too much. john in sumner wa ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Kim has done good here. This morning I have received email confirming the order. In addition, their website now reflects the two different CD's, the 12 song and now also the SE CD. Soooooo, if anyone wants the Borders SE CD, and does not have a local Borders store, I'd suggest getting it ***NOW*** as it is a limited edition only. And....it's $3.00 extra over the cost of the 12-song version. It wasn't this much in the stores was it? Anyway, I have my fingers crossed until I receive it. ;-) - -Jim At 03:49 AM 2/23/2001, Denice Hazlett wrote: ><ship it ASAP.>> > >At least it sounds like she's bending over backwards to make it right. > >denice >(wondering if Jonatha will do an o-HI-o Borders stop...) - ---------------------------------------------------------- HELP! owner-full-fledged-strangers@smoe.org Send mail to full-fledged-strangers@smoe.org ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Feb 2001 12:52:47 -0800 From: Bob Bennett Subject: My Borders Experience (2/23) Hello ... Emerging from lurk-dom to recount my experience at Borders in Cerritos (L.A. area), CA last night. (I was unable to buy the CD due to a bout of temporary unemployment, but that's incidental to why I'm posting.) The store did, indeed, have the CD displayed on an end-cap and it was positioned alongside a lot of "higher profile, big-time, gargantuan record company releases" ... quite visible and rightfully so. But, I asked the sales associate if it was available on a listening station and she said "no". We got into a brief discussion where I told her that the CD was a special Borders edition and I was surprised that it was not available for listening. (I do understand that there are lot of machinations that go into who gets displayed and who gets played at the listening stations.) She even checked her "official list in a binder" to make sure it was not supposed to be at a listening station. My only reason for writing is not to complain, but to give a heads up to Jonatha's management. (I'm hoping somebody who has access to management can forward this along.) If part of their deal with Borders was that the "special edition" version be prominently displayed _and_ at a listening station, that wasn't happening at this store and could be an error compounded elsewhere. If that's not the case, well ... then return to your regularly scheduled day! See, we're not just whining, fanatical, get-a-life-won't-you fans ... we're Jo's Army, out there on the front lines, dukin' it out in Retail Land for our musical pal. We'd follow you into hell, you magnificent son-of-a --- oops, thought I was in a John Wayne movie for a second! (Does this mean I _totally_ missed the point of "War"?) :-) Best regards, Bob - ---------------------------------------------------------- HELP! owner-full-fledged-strangers@smoe.org Send mail to full-fledged-strangers@smoe.org ------------------------------ End of full-fledged-strangers-digest V4 #27 ******************************************* ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- This has been a posting from full-fledged-strangers-digest For help send e-mail to owner-full-fledged-strangers@smoe.org ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
