I like Linger, and I'll Take it From Here isn't *bad*.. But I'm largely disappointed with the studio-ish sounds coming off the album. It reminds me of Eric Clapton's Pilgrim..where his live/acoustic stuff rocked, but the studio album was a big let down. I feel awful for saying so, I love Jonatha's music..I just wasn't able to get into this one. Funny though, because it always took me a few days to warm up to her quirkier tracks..I'm finding it nearly impossible to connect with this album. To me, it comes off as over-produced, repetitive, and um..just not what I'm used to. I'm holding onto the hope that the songs will sound better live, solo. Crys ++ I can live with doubt and uncertainty and not knowing. I think it is much more interesting to live not knowing than to have answers that might be wrong. - -- Richard Feynman On Thu, 15 Feb 2001, David Blanar wrote: > Being in England, it's taking me longer to get my copy, but no one so far > has indicated that they *don't* like it ... > > Is this true? > > dkb > > > **************************************************************************** > This email and any files or other attachments transmitted with it are > confidential and may be legally privileged and are intended solely for the > use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed. Ok .. this does piss me off a bit. So you pre-order, get the CD (not the DVD) a few days before the release. Ok, fine. It cost you $20 when you include shipping and all that. Then you go to VIRGIN, and the thing is on sale for $14.99. You'd think the fans would get a deal. BUT, you know what, I love Jonatha, I'll go the extra mile -- it's certainly worth the few extra dollars. BUT NOW -- bonus tracks available elsewhere??? What is that?? Hi... I'm pissed. The 3 extra tracks are "Tu Dis Que Tu M'aimes" which is a French version of "How Deep Is Your Love", "What We Are" and "Deny". Out of those songs I really only like "Deny". It is a slow song with piano. As for the rest of the album I think it ROCKS. Open Question for Jonatha's management: I stopped by my local Borders where the new CD is $12.99 with three bonus tracks not on the CD I bought on this site. So you're charging $4 more than Borders for a CD purchased directly from this site that has 3 fewer songs? And here your margin is no doubt higher than the units you sell to Borders, since you are essentially acting as wholesaler and retailer and you're charging to cover shipping/handling? In terms of PR on a site where chances are the people purchasing the CD are already fans of Jonatha, that seems pretty short-sighted at best, and at worst exploits loyal fans. We pay more, get less and you earn more on each unit. The math doesn't work. I certainly want Jonatha to earn what she's due, but this is a business mistake, not an artistic one. Will I at least get the bonus tracks on the DVD I ordered but have not received? If not, there really is a sucker born every minute and that sucker this minute is me. I'll think twice before ordering directly from the site again, and that's unfortunate because your margins here must be better than going through Borders or any other retailer, even at the same price let alone a higher one. Love Jonatha and her music, but don't love the business approach taken here. - ---------------------------------------------------------- HELP! owner-full-fledged-strangers@smoe.org Send mail to full-fledged-strangers@smoe.org ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Feb 2001 17:28:46 EST From: TreyCozy@aol.com Subject: Re: 3 bonus tracks Why do you say "bummer"? Gez. Honestly, I tried really hard not to add to all the valid comments already made about the 3 bonus tracks and $12.59 Borders price, but this has me really REALLY annoyed. What's up with that? The lower price at Borders is only enough to elicit a "Hmph" from me. I'm willing to pay the extra dollars directly to Jonatha because I realize how difficult it must be to go on your own. However, to provide the bonus tracks only to the "mass market" audience and NOT to the loyal "I've been to 5 Jonatha shows" fans is unbelievable. I can't *wait* to hear the official explanation for this. /mel :( - ---------------------------------------------------------- HELP! owner-full-fledged-strangers@smoe.org Send mail to full-fledged-strangers@smoe.org ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Feb 2001 18:41:49 -0800 From: Jim DeFord Subject: Re: 3 bonus tracks Hey all!
