Hey all, i'm a jonatha fan too! i've got a little blurb of her on my website... pages.nyu.edu/~jik3343/welcomepage.html check it out when you're bored. i've got a little write up of my jonatha experiences and how i made a little Korean American following for her in NYC, jersey and Philly (YO, Adrian!). Yeah, that's me, at the instores, downtown village shows, the asian kid with the mechanics jacket. I saw someone was a huge Sarah Masen fan and was baby sitted by her. A measly 21 years old, but at least I have good musical taste! Middle name: Jerome. Last name: Summers. Don't like my first name, which is why my e-mail address is "TrentJerome@...." (I prefer Trent). I agree about SARAH MASEN!!! Excellent artist who needs to release something new soon!! I saw her in concert back in 96 or 97 and she is truly great in concert! I didn't really gravitate toward her 3rd album (Even though it has a GREAT B & W cover photo!), but The Holding and her Self-Titled album have some gems! I've posted several times, and I think that I am the only one here who has NEVER seen Jonatha in Concert. I had the joyous opportunity to see Jennifer in New Cumberland, Pa at The Wire and was so happy to finally see, hear and talk to the wonderful weaver of music. She's very sweet and a very good musician as well. I would love to see Jonatha sometime, but it seems she never comes near where I live (Wait a minute, NOONE but poor quality country singers come to my area!!!). By the way I live in St. Clairsville, Ohio near Wheeling WV. Actually Lucy Kaplansky came to a local college several months ago, but I was unable to go =( Heard she was great. I borrowed the Cry Cry Cry CD from the library thinking that her addition to the CD (With Dar Williams and someone else) would be wonderful, but personally I think that the CD is very poor--my personal opinion, and some of you probably love(d) it. I like Dar Williams, too. I first heard of Jonatha back in '96 or '97. I saw her CD reviewed in Columbia House, and because I thought the cover looked neat (Plumb) and it was a female singer (I tend to favor female singers) I took the chance and got the CD. I loved it, and still do. I think it's stronger than 10 cent wings (Again, just one of my opinions =). I also like her live album, and think that it is very strong. I still have not heard Grace in Gravity (I'm terribly embarressed to admit it). I have The Angel In THe House, and love several of the songs, but altogether I like Plumb best. Of course I love Veering from the Wave as well, and consider it one of the great albums of the '90's along with Plumb and the Live album. Right now I'm listening to Ebba Forsberg. She's from Sweden and has a pretty good CD. You can get it REALLY CHEAP ON eBay!!!! (Like $3-5 INCLUDING SHIPPING!!) Hardly anyone has heard of her, and although she is not as good as Jonatha or Jennifer, she has some quality music on her CD ("Been There"). For that cheap of a price you can definately afford it. There's one on eBay right now (No bids) http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=315072279 I also have an extra copy if anyone wants it. You can have it for $4.00 (Including shipping). If anyone wants it, just let me know. If you can get soundclips of her song "Hold Me" listen to them! Its the crowning jewel of the album!!! "Didn't treat me Right" (Wonderful bluesy song) is probably next best. That's all for me. Sorry to take up so much room on the list! Great to be home and touring East again after a two-week solo run on the west coast. Flowers already blooming there, smooshed bees on the windshield, one hand on the wheel - the other..... on the cell phone. Aah. Driving. Sorry to say the radio situation in Oregon and Washington states (outside of Eugene, Portland and Seattle) was extremely unsatisfactory. And though I barely had a radio in my economy size we're-so-cheap-we-need-your-fingerprint-on-our-contract-rental car, it was hardly worth it. Home now and very grateful to have some cool radio. And the fact that WUMB/Boston exists is really something. Not that I can take acoustic-folk music ALL DAY long. But I sure like to tune in every now and then. It's true, that Dusty Springfield compilation, "Forever Dusty," which I have been talking about for months is OUT. RandDRecorDs.com is a good place to find it. Paul Bryan created a beautiful arrangement for "Chained to a Memory" and played most all of the parts himself. I sing and play geeetar, and so does Duke Levine - except for the singing. (Those of you who don't know Mr. Levine, he played with us in the Story all those years, and currently tours with Mary Chapin Carpenter). And speaking of Duke - on FRIDAY, MAY 12, I will be playing at the LIZARD LOUNGE in Cambridge with BOTH Duke and Marc Shulman on electric guitars! Dave Mattacks on drums, Andrew Mazzone on bass. It's going to be lots of fun, lots of new songs, some mine, some other people's - like Julie Miller, Matt Glaser, David Hidalgo, Brian Wilson.... It's late - so get some extra sleep now. 10pm show (I play 11-1am!!) Great beers on tap. Nice dark room where you are on three sides, and we'll play facing each other so as to have even more fun. Thank you for coming out in so many droves to so many shows East and West! Thank you for gifts of books, chocolate and nutella along the way - most especially to Seattle for somehow letting me play three shows in one week. Thank you passionate Seattle fans.
