I don't know anything about Kevin Gilbert, but I have to remark about how odd it is that (at least for me) the artists I like are so often connected in some way. Prior to discovering Jonatha I found Sheryl Crow and really got into her first release, well before she exploded. If I remember correctly, Crow dated Gilbert before J. Almost 10 years before that I found this somewhat unknown group called "David & David," which was David Baerwald and David Ricketts. Baerwald, Ricketts and Gilbert all played on Crow's first release. Crow's first release also came out two years before "Plumb." I would love to know the details of how they came to meet eachother, how the paths they chose led them to different levels of success, and what led them to choose those paths. Interesting stuff indeed. I didn't know Gilbert dated JB. But Sheryl fucked him over out of over 5 mil in royalties (Baerwald has a jihad out on her as well). Gilbert ended up dead soonafter... Gilbert was the guy who had organized the Tuesday Night Music Club about a year before SC used them as the performers and the name of the album. She actually was prior to that playing live keyboards for Gilberts then band, Toy Matinee. > Almost > 10 years before that I found this somewhat unknown group called "David & > David," which was David Baerwald and David Ricketts. Baerwald also has two solo albums, Ricketts was the lover and producer for Toni Child's first 3 releases, and then did Merideth Brooks debut as well as some other projects. Baerwald has alsomade some guest appearances here and there. > Crow's first release > also came out two years before "Plumb." Interesting stuff indeed. If you want some of the rather unpleasant details, there is plenty to know (a lot of it well documented. Start with the memoriam written by Cintra Wilson in Salon in their archives) z > > Joseph Arruda wrote: > > > > gOn Wed, 15 Dec 1999, Theresa wrote: > > > > Strange...'Triage' was the name of the second album by David Baerwald, > > which featured Kevin Gilbert (who recorded 'Emmanuel' w/ JB and who is > > the inspiration for 'Glass Half Empty'). That was just my own deductive logic based, in part, upon some rumor. > Baerwald also has two solo albums, Ricketts was the lover and producer for > Toni Child's first 3 releases, and then did Merideth Brooks debut as well > as some other projects. Once again, a connection - Toni Childs has a vocals credit on David & David's "Boomtown" album. - ---------------------------------------------------------- HELP! owner-full-fledged-strangers@smoe.org Send mail to full-fledged-strangers@smoe.org ------------------------------ End of full-fledged-strangers-digest V2 #13 ******************************************* ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- This has been a posting from full-fledged-strangers-digest For help send e-mail to owner-full-fledged-strangers@smoe.org ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
