I certainly wasn't. I can't remember everything from the entire night, but here's a set list and some highlights: Glass Half Empty Blood From a Stone (with the famous doo doo doo) Red Dress (one of my favorite new songs) Always Faultline West Point Linger (a single-ready powerhouse which, if handled appropriately, could bring Jonatha into major success) New Dress (not to be confused with Red Dress; quite a song) I'll Take it From Here Your House So Much Mine ("My only quasi-hit," she explained. "It sold 20 copies in Finland") How Deep is Your Love (the only way I can describe this song is Jonatha via Jimi Hendrix with a visit to Faith Hill) Landmine Is this All I, for one, am excited with the direction Jonatha is taking with her music. I think it all started with "Crumbs," which marked the beginnings of her standard guitar setups and a progression into a fuller, more fleshed-out sound that really and truly rocks. "Red Dress" and "Linger" were new-song favorites, and she and the backup band honestly derived pleasure in making great noise. Ingrid was stuck in Chicago, so there were no beautiful harmonies, but Jonatha captivated nonetheless. She was wearing a charcoal turtleneck and some killer brown leather pants. She looked great as she pointed to the bracelets on her arm. "This one is for...money," she said, before she followed it up with a skeptical "Pffft." She ragged on Christmas presents, the holidays, and trees, and all but guaranteed there will be no "Jonatha Christmas" Album. The new (real) album, she says, is due in the spring sometime, as soon as Bad Dog gets their act together. And she signed my "Angel" album, "Love and good books, Jonatha Brooke." She's playing again next Thursday if anyone's in the LA area. - ---------------------------------------------------------- HELP! owner-full-fledged-strangers@smoe.org Send mail to full-fledged-strangers@smoe.org ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Dec 1999 15:52:36 -0500 (EST) From: stephenu@webtv.net (Stephen Underwood) Subject: Thanks Thanks for the review Derek.I can't will till we have a new CD from Jonatha!! Thanks for sharing the information about Jo's next CD. I should be keeping up on her more. That's the great thing about these lists - it's where I get most of my information! >It was great to chat with her when no one else was around- even though it was in >the bathroom! How cool! I ran into Jonatha in the bathroom, too! I agree, it's nice to have her all to yourself. I was too shocked to chat and only managed a sheepish hello and some conversation about the weather (it was pouring rain.) I wish I had been more bold. I do agree, however - she has a very welcoming personality and is more than happy to talk to fans! Thanks again, Bev Wolfe (Sheepish in Orlando) - ---------------------------------------------------------- HELP! owner-full-fledged-strangers@smoe.org Send mail to full-fledged-strangers@smoe.org ------------------------------ End of full-fledged-strangers-digest V2 #11 ******************************************* ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- This has been a posting from full-fledged-strangers-digest For help send e-mail to owner-full-fledged-strangers@smoe.org ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
