Yep. I loved the sounds she got out of her keyboards. Also, if you listen to her work w/ Kostars, it is evident that she is classically trained. The rest of the band seems to have taught themselves, so it was nice to have come 'musique concrete' mixed into things. I miss that. Vivian is also a very good songwriter, and I would have liked to have seen her contribute her own songs to LJ, along with Jill and Gabby to break things up a bit. > seems like Vivian brought in ideas that smoothed the > sharp edges, added some > breezy ambience that's missing now. Let's not forget her excellent backing vocals (and on the Kostars effort, her fine lead vocals). If there is one area that's lacking right now, that would be it. The two times I've seen them live with Singh, I couldn't even hear Singh sing (no pun indended), Tia is iffy as a backing vocalist, and Gabby's backing vocal duties have dwindled significantly. > ------------------------------ > > Date: Mon, 28 Feb 2000 09:38:14 CST > From: "Tina Bonacci" > Subject: Re: find-your-mind Chicago show > Re: Their decision to tour w/ Smashmouth for the > money > i can't say that i blame them for taking the > offer! Well, their label could do a little better PROMOTING them. Let's face it. PR for "E-Honey" was rather weak. I'm not sure how it is selling, but I haven't seen any singles charting and the only time I saw the video for "Ladyfingers" was on MTV's 120 Minutes. For an album as consistently good as E-Honey -- especially with all the crap that's out there right now -- my finger is pointing toward Capitol. They don't know what they are doing. - ------Mr. Kranky ___________________________________________________________________ Get smart - get your FREE email at http://email.looksmart.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Feb 2000 18:48:45 EST From: ArtaudJr@aol.com Subject: find-your-mind Re: Luscious Ladies & record companies In a message dated 2/29/00 10:48:50 AM Eastern Standard Time, CAC65@looksmart.com writes: << Well, their label could do a little better PROMOTING them. They may not have had the time to do promotional spots on TV or radio like other bands do, which means that if the record company would want them to have a decent showing, they would need to shell out some cash and do some promoting of their own. That's the way I see it, anyway.
