If anything, I sense that "T.S." is worried that Jill's dominance on the last two records (Oops! There's the age thing again!) presents a threat to the future of L.J. as a group. After all, look what happened with groups like the Police, where Sting went solo, or with Fleetwood Mac, where Stevie Nicks did her solo thing, etc. I mean, let's be honest here. Sometimes when there is a tremendous creative force in a band, which Jill definitely is, the artist looks for other creative outlets outside of the limits of a band environment. For example, she had the Kostars thing with Viv, and she's even writing with/for others now, such as Emmylou Harris. Obviously, I would hate to see the end of L.J., as I'm sure most people around here do, but if Jill did decide to go the solo route, I would definitely support her, simply because she's a tremendous talent. What a singer, musician and writer. I think Kate and Gabby realize this and are trying not to inhibit Jill's growth, because she's in the Paul McCartney/Chrissie Hynde/Laura Nyro/Sting league. She's THAT good. Peace out. Same goes for several other tunes on the album. Talk > about a credit hog and gi-huge-ic ego. I don't think it's necessarily an ego issue. Maybe writing alone works best for Jill these days. And it's hard to argue with the results -- Ladyfingers is an awesome song. Still, this "Jill song/Gabby song" thing makes me a little nervous. My favorite band ever, Husker Du, developed a similar songwriting rift and ended up breaking up. I think the ladies are a little more solid than they were, though. - -Mike ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Aug 1999 15:53:17 EDT From: AGENTCLPT@aol.com Subject: Re: total_scum In a message dated 8/18/99 5:51:32 AM Eastern Daylight Time, Harpua25@aol.com writes: << Wow Jen...
