It never ceases to amaze me how much WORK people put into hate pages. I mean, if ya dislike someone that much, isn't the proper thing to do NOT to acknowledge them **at all**?? With this in mind, this jackass has some major personal ax to grind and I don't wanna any part of it. If s/he didn't like the tunes, then say so, but don't fill the 'net with trash talk. Jeez, bad karma. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 06 Jul 1999 23:03:59 GMT From: Tina Bonacci Subject: Re: anybody else see this crap? I realize that people are entitled to their own opinions. However, I can't tolerate it when a people are ridiculous when insulting others. The list of gripes about LJ were not only lame, but poorly written. It seems as if a 7th grader came up w/all that crap. What I don't realize is how someone can be a fan and then totally turn on the band. So E.Honey doesn't sound exactly like Manny and Nat.Ings? Does this person expect LJ to keep the same sound for the rest of their careers? I totally disagree w/the idea of the band selling out. Instead, I think that they're growing and making the most of their talents. There's a message board on the bottom of her/his page...be sure to leave a note and tell them what's up. Ok, since noone else seemed to be there, i'll give you my review of the show. First of all it was very very hot and I was very stoned. My friends made me do it cos' they're such potheads and it was 4th of July and whatever, blah blah blah. John Spencer was ok, but don't take it from me cos' i've never been a very big fan. Jill came out and sang a song with them that he said she wrote, but I didn't recognize it or hear the name of it cos' I was still trying to get inside the venue. They were only letting like 5 people in at a time at all entrances. So once John Spencer was done and the crowd shifted I was able to get right up front and hung out while this guy was spraying down the crowd with a hose. That was a lot of fun! He kept coming back to our side too cos' I think we were the loudest. LJ hit the stage and opened with Here. Got the crowd really jumping, but everyone was just soo damned hot!! Ladyfingers was 2nd and they played it very well! I don't remember the whole setlist but it was very similar to a setlist i saw posted somewhere that they did recently. Maybe the Virgin Megastore gig. They just kept cranking them out one after the other. Jill was calling out most of the songs and actually called one wrong. I think she said Christine, then Gabby was like, "no, it's Electric" and was pointing at the setlist on the floor of the stage. Jill just looked away and said, "ok, Electric then" and started the bass line. Jill was like "whatever" to Gabby and Gabby was disappointed about it. The vibe with Jill was weird, she did not seem to be in a good mood. Gabby and Kate were really trying it seemed, but Jill was just somewhere else, maybe even upset but looking very sweet none the less. They played a nice and lengthy set even with the heat and stuff. They asked some guy to get up onstage and dance to I forget what and I was like, "Damn!" cos' he was standing right in front of me and it could've been ME dancing up there for them!! So he preceded to shake his booty and act like a kid from Vermont who just moved to the big city to become a chippendale's dancer, but was told to start out with smaller clubs and get some moves first. It was funny, sorta, I was just jealous. So they finished, two encores and all, and the crowd dissipated RAPIDLY. The MC announced that the girls would be in the HMV tent signing autographs, so that's where I headed! Waited to be last in line, bought a really cool LJ shirt with a surfer scene on the front. I was anxious to talk to them even though my voice was soo spent from screaming my head off during Surprise. Then two guys got behind me in line (doh!). I got up to Kate who is such a trooper and laid the shirt on the table. She asked me my name and wrote it down, then signed. Jill next, smiling nicely and told me that Kate designed the shirt and I was the only one who bought one, which I thought was bizarre cos it is such a cool shirt. Just as classic as the Beastie's shirt with the van iron-on. Then Gabby signed and it was out of the tent for me. But I didn't get to do what I wanted to do. I was there to give them a CD I made for them of my own techno/dance/drum&bass stuff (whatever you want to call it). So I took it out of my backpack, and walked back over. By this time everyone had split and it was just them at the table. I pulled out the CD and Jill was grabbing it to sign, and I said, "No, that's for you! I do some producing and made you a CD of my stuff!" i said, "It's a gift back for all the beautiful music you've enlightened me with over the years." I couldn't take my eyes off of Jill and I froze after that cos' they seemed a little confused or something. Then I just went blank and felt the best thing to do was just walk away though I wanted to really talk to them so badly. And it was the right time for it too! Instead I just walked away thinking they thought I was a freak. Jill at least anyway, I wasn't even looking at Gabby or Kate. Then I was just in a weird mood the rest of the day and went down to Vinyl for the Body&Soul 3 year anniversary. So, Jill Gabby & Kate! If you ever get to read this or if anyone on this list can forward this to you, I hope you liked my music! It was just meant for you to listen and enjoy! I can be reached at j@xushispeedway.com if you have any questions about it! That's all! Love you guys! I guess that's it. It's happened with me and at least one band I used to love. But let's try to be mature about it, huh? My "favorite" part was the bulletin board with all of the creative (<---sarcasm) posts from famous people. It's clear this person is making an ass out of someone, and it's not the members of Luscious Jackson. - -Mike ------------------------------ End of find-your-mind-digest V2 #71 ***********************************
