Alex Young * Singh Birdsong - keyboards & backing vocals * Tia Sprocket - percussion, bass, guitar & backing vocals Actually, if you've seen LJ perform live, you'll see that Gabby is definitely *not* in the background. On some of the "FIFO" songs, yes, but the flow of the show definitely shows a lot of Gabby influence. Some of the very best moments were influenced by the Gabmeister. - ---- Begin Included Message ---- so are they officially a trio now? like will there just be jill, gabby, kate listed and then like "featuring" others? b/c i've seen them a few times since viv left and they definitely have new peeps but they're totally in the background but then again so is gabby now (not to be bitter) anyway...anyone know the official band listing now? just wondering toodles - --rachel At 02:39 AM 4/22/99 -0400, Ingus Mathew Burleson wrote: >I still don't know if I can get that excited about an album without Viv! >somebody help me! > > > - ---- End Included Message ---- LookSmart … or keep looking. http://www.looksmart.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Apr 1999 10:26:35 -0700 From: "Dunny2" Subject: Jill WAY out front Yep, I definitely agree with Rachel about Jill being out front and Gabby sort of being in the back with the supporting musicians. It's terrible. She is much too talented for that sort of treatment. I guess Jill has her ego issues. - --- ......Dunny2 - -----== Sent via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==----- http://www.dejanews.com/ Easy access to 50,000+ discussion forums ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Apr 1999 10:57:54 -0700 From: "Dunny2" Subject: Jill WAY out front Have to agree with Rachel (?) 'bout Jill being way, way too out front. Makes me wonder why Gabrielle is wasting her talent playing second fiddle. Hope someone's giant ego isnt' to blame. - --- ......Dunny2 - -----== Sent via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==----- http://www.dejanews.com/ Easy access to 50,000+ discussion forums ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Apr 1999 16:00:27 EDT From: Supastar11@aol.com Subject: Fwd: Jill WAY out front - --part1_b20bba7d.2450d9db_boundary Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit - --part1_b20bba7d.2450d9db_boundary Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Disposition: inline Return-path: Supastar11@aol.com From: Supastar11@aol.com Full-name: Supastar11 Message-ID: Date: Thu, 22 Apr 1999 15:59:46 EDT Subject: Re: Jill WAY out front To: dunny2@my-dejanews.com MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Mailer: AOL 4.0 for Windows 95 sub 214 Reply-To: Supastar11@aol.com before we start ego bashing around here.... has anyone considered that perhaps gabby doesnt want to be as involved vocally? im not saying thats the case, but it could be. and on the new song, nervous breakdown, gabby has her own litte rap, a la find your mind. we should all merrily hang on until e-honey is released. in the meantime, you can hear a few of the new songs, and old, through grand royal's web site. star - --part1_b20bba7d.2450d9db_boundary-- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Apr 1999 17:11:53 EDT From: Persekore@aol.com Subject: Re: Jill WAY out front following star's argument... I don't think Jill takes up too much space... I believe that perhaps Gabby just doesn't want to be "in front" anyway. I heard an interview with her on JamTV, in which she said something to the effect of not feeling as comfortable on stage as Jill does, likening herself to a turtle, being "slow to come out". She said this regarding last year's Lilith Fair shows, for which they mostly played Jill's songs. Perhaps she prefered it that way; it certainly did not seem to be an issue with her judging from the interview. So I think it was a conscious decision on Gabby's part to leave the leadership thing to Jill, on stage anyway. Just my two cents. True, she doesn't seem as outgoing, or the natural performer, as Jill, but she definitely is a very strong influence, and her songs like Rock Freak, Electric, yada, are tremendous live offerings. IMHO, I don't think there can be an argument that on stage she's a major player, and even on record (CD). My only wish - not sure about others in this group, like Dunny - is that I hope E-Honey is more of a 50-50 mix in the way of songwriting/vocals, because there's more balance that way. Whatever happens though, LJ will continue to be one of my favorite bands, if not my favorite right now. Cheers. - ----Chuck LookSmart … or keep looking. http://www.looksmart.com ------------------------------ End of find-your-mind-digest V2 #19 ***********************************
