Hey Bayard! > Is anyone who's active on DIME transferring audience recordings of Mr H to > the Internet Archive? It's something I keep meaning to get around to ... and I do upload a fair amount of stuff to IA*. If you're looking to maintain Robynbase, IA has a queryable interface that could (with a little fiddling) return performance dates to particular songs. > having the shows on the Archive would be very handy since you can see all > the details without having to be member of anything, and can even stream > the audio. What's the scoop on this? Streaming is nice, but you do get the gatekeepery type of taper who insists on no lossless, which means you can't stream it. Given that the original FLAC files are kept in place, I don't see any problem with IA providing streaming files as well. Not all the files on DIME are audience recordings, and Robyn is on record (a long time ago) saying he didn't want soundboard recordings uploaded: https://archive.org/details/RobynHitchcock&tab=about My main issue with uploading to IA is its very narrow file naming conventions. I'm sure there are scripts for this. cheers, Stewart ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 6 May 2018 18:03:54 -0400 From: Lauren Elizabeth Subject: Re: DIME for your thoughts? Hi Bayard (whose name just autocorrected to bavatarsb), Ibd be happy to help out with some of the shows if someFeg is available to give me some guidance on easiest way to get the shows ready for IA. IIRC, therebs some file transformations and file name changes that need to be made. FWIW, I have a Mac and have used, IIRC, an app called Switch to transform e.g. FLACs to MP3s. I also have some issues with sharing using BT on my Mac b I donbt know if itbs a firewall issue or what, but I like to keep my ratio up. So, again, happy to help out but would appreciate a little technical help if I do. You know where to find me. - -Lauren > On May 6, 2018, at 11:49 AM, bayard wrote: > > Is anyone who's active on DIME transferring audience recordings of Mr H to > the Internet Archive? Is anyone who's active on DIME transferring audience recordings of Mr H to the Internet Archive? I tried to get on DIME several times long ago, it was always "full," realistically I am not likely to use it much anyway - but having the shows on the Archive would be very handy since you can see all the details without having to be member of anything, and can even stream the audio. What's the scoop on this? I see 191 shows so far... I bet DIME has more than that. https://archive.org/details/RobynHitchcock ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 6 May 2018 23:05:44 -0400 From: "Stewart C. The file renaming was a little fiddly, and uploading without flash is a pain. I've done a lot of automated uploading to IA before b an entire Apple // disk library b so I wonder if I can script it b& cheers, Stewart ------------------------------ End of fegmaniax-digest V19 #441 ********************************
