I am so sorry to hear your news. Beatrice has suffered for a long time, and is now at peace. I know, however, that comes as little consolation to you at this time, and I wish I could say that your own pain at this loss will go, but I know it doesn't - though it does ease with time. Remember the good times, remember in happiness, and know that you have many friends wishing you all the best. Her daughter Ruth and I registered her death lastWednesday. Beatrice was determined to complete the interview analysis for her Ph.D, and with help from Professor Fiona Poland of the University of East Anglia she has put the findings into publishable form and they will be avaiable under the title 'Bedlam or Bliss?' in the journal Quality in Ageing and Older Adults next month. That will be some consolation, but the house feels very empty without her. I have had masses of cards and letters from friends but they are no substitute for her delightful presence.
