When I was learning to play the guitar, all the budding players around aspired to play like Jansch and Renbourn, and the 'Angie / Anji' riff was THE test of competence. n.p. I saw a reference to this as well: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2011/oct/04/david-bedford David Bedford was a key member of The Whole World, a delightful group 'organised' by Kevin Ayers in the early 70s. There was one memorable concert at the Victoria Rooms in Bristol where he got members of the audience playing a 'score' which was little more than blots and dashes: "A flexible approach to notation proved an advantage when working with pop musicians who lacked conventional music-reading skills, and with children. The combination of this and Bedford's talents as both composer and arranger meant that he could turn his hand to almost any forces and musical circumstances. Though perhaps best known in concert halls during the 1960s and 70s, Bedford always remained in the public ear, whether as composer of concert or educational music, as an arranger for Billy Bragg, Elvis Costello and many others, or as a film composer, with credits including The Killing Fields (1984), Orlando (1992) and several Hammer House of Mystery and Suspense TV series". - - Mike Godwin ------------------------------ End of fegmaniax-digest V19 #122 ********************************
