The next phase of the story is a little unclear: the reservoir is due to go offline in the next year or so, so they won't need the balls anymore. What's less certain is who if anyone is going to remove them... I mean, not a whole lot of incentive for them spend money on a reservoir they don't need. And then who maintains it and to what standards thereafter? We just don't know. The main thing is, we don't get cool birds over here anymore.
