I'm thinking of getting Curt The Man in the High Castle. Also, any specific Bester recommendations would be appreciated. I actually laughed out loud, Jeanne, at your Vonnegut recommendation. Curt (with a "C", but the "K" Kurt was definitely in mind when we named him) wrote his much-lauded high school senior thesis on Vonnegut (oh so long ago), so I think he could probably tell all of us a thing or two about the late, great man from Indiana. As a matter of fact, Vonnegut died two days before Curt handed in his thesis (much later than Eddie Tews would have had us believe sometime around 2006), and Curt's adviser came up to him and gave him a hug. It was cute. Meanwhile, I'm re-reading Harry Potter VII because I read it so quickly when it came out, afraid that someone would spill the beans before I finished, that I don't really remember it at all. Thanks all! I've been kind of expecting it for a while but that doesn't make it any the less awful, awful news. At least now his records should all be reissued properly with the respect they deserve. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 19 Dec 2010 19:46:47 -0500 (EST) From: Jill Brand Subject: wow, Captain Beefheart RIP My childhood is officially over. ------------------------------ End of fegmaniax-digest V18 #221 ********************************
