Siouxie and the Banshees JUJU is excellent! Lately, I've been listening to the their album "Hyaena" with Robert Smith playing guitar. Actually, Hyanea is the only Siouxie album I have and I just got it within the month. It's good. JUJU is 3 years older and maybe not at deep in layers, but is fresher. I like the jangle of the guitars and the thumping of the drums. There is power and energy throughout this album. The opening song Spellbound guitar reminds a little of Robyn's guitar, but more primative. A pleasent discovery. Thanks for the upload. Oh, Can I be added to the list? I'd love to get in on this and pick an album to be reviewed. Steeley Dan? Love them! It's jazz rock by great songwriters who are incredible musicians. I remember reading that Pretzel Logic is one of Andy Metcalfe's top 10 favorite albums. I listened to the boxset lots in June on the weekends. - -Nuppy ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 02 Aug 2010 19:21:22 +0200 From: Sebastian Hagedorn Subject: Re: Siouxie Dan - -- Bri N is rumored to have mumbled on 2. Agreed, although after listening to it one more time I think that I like the first part (may I dare say: side?) much better than the second. I'm a pop music guy at heart and the second part is, for the time being, a little too discordant for me. - -- Sebastian Hagedorn Am alten Stellwerk 22, 50733 Kvln, Germany http://www.uni-koeln.de/~a0620/ "Being just contaminates the void" - Robyn Hitchcock ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Aug 2010 12:17:24 -0700 From: "Bri N" Subject: Juju Also... Nocturne, which was recorded during Fat Bob's tenure as a Banshee, is one of my favorite live sets. Some crazy-ass guitar and it really shows up Budgie's fab gear drumming. I get *extremely* good results from Audio Intelligent's enzymatic cleaner ($25, enough to last a lifetime) and a Disc Doctor brush ($21), and a record vacuum (more than you want to spend, but you can rinse the LPs and let them air dry). Or, for $80, get an entire kit with the Spin Clean Record Washer. It's getting rave reviews. > > De-noising software is probably gonna cost more, and will remove a some/lots of sonic benefits. If I can do it live, it doesn't have to be perfect, the way I'd want it to be if I were going to do it as a one-shot process. 2) 3000+ lps. I'll investigate the Spin Clean. I've been looking at solutions that started around $300 -- still not bad considering the number of lps concerned, and I'll almost certainly go that way someday. Wouldn't it be nice to have a quick fix that gets you 80% there right now with non-permanent results? I'm pretty sure somebody is doing this today. My real problem is how to navigating past thousands of semi-relevant google hits. If there's a disc-cleaning program that works as a VST or Direct-X plugin, it can almost certainly be made to work with a live audio stream. Live de-noising means you don't have to commit to the result; it can be good enough for now. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 3 Aug 2010 06:06:08 -0400 From: lep Subject: Re: Siouxie Dan Bri N says: > Oh, Can I be added to the list?
