I thoroughly enjoyed the entire album. It is of their time and ahead of their time. My wife said "they sound like the monkees." And by excellent coincidence I am treated by my MP3 player's notions of random ordering to his performance of the song in April 96 in Bilbao, which I suddenly remember does move me. This is a great song. http://www.box.net/shared/mchdav1t1o J ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Jul 2010 18:59:53 -0400 From: ross Subject: Re: The Monks On 10-07-28 11:28 AM, m swedene wrote: > Monks.... > I felt that they > had more of a Pink Floyd/Syd B (musical feel) with some Doors organ bits > here and there. > Even some Zappa, to my ears. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Jul 2010 16:03:50 -0700 From: "John B. It's all concerts, bootlegs and radio sessions, about 120 tapes. Does anyone want this? I think they're here in my office because I made an offer to send them to somebody once and either never did, or couldn't find anyone that really wanted them. Let me know. Lauren and or other keepers of the list, when does my turn come around? /And had I even indicated that I want to take a turn? They did way back during the 1999 Rock Armada tour when they backed up Robyn. IB bought a copy of the "Out Of Here" cd at the mech booth from Tim at theB Magic Bag/ Ferndale, MI gig B and he signed the insert for me. "Out Of Here" is the only DL album I own, so I'm not familiar with the the 2001 album B "J etlag Dreams" orB 20002's "Too Late to Die Young" . (The second one does not have as good/together of a band backing him up, either.) For some reason, I was always under the impression that they were more of a proto-Sonic Youth-y than they actually are. The farfisa threw me a bit at first, but, yeah. Really cool. Almost sounds like a party record, albeit at a fairly odd party. "I love how (coffee) makes me feel. If you notice Swedene's in there twice, you're right. Does anyone have a guideline for how often we want to pick a new album? So far, we just seem to be going by mail volume, which is fine by me, except someone might need to kick me once in a while if we need to get things moving while i'm staring off into space. xo Lauren - -- "people with opinions just go around bothering one another." -- the buddha ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Jul 2010 01:06:01 -0400 From: lep Subject: Re: Holy List of Feg Record Club - after Stewart's pick (Monks) ...and I'll handle the first correction; I left Terrance out of the "Have picked" category. Is there really anyone that someone here doesn't hate though? From a practical standpoint, all any of us have to do to avoid exposure to, oh let's say the Eagles, is just not listen that time.
