But I dunno, the Pornos are a special case indeed. All five records would be standouts in anyone else's catalog. That hasn't happened since, like, R.E.M. met the WB, and when you factor in all the superlative TNP solo material released during that span, you've got... well, shit, you've got something. HOWEVER... any hints on where one might find the tracks on that "Togetherness: The New Pornographers Play Outrageous Cherry" single without having to sully one's hands with physical objects? - -Rex ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 May 2010 16:43:42 +0200 From: Sebastian Hagedorn Subject: Re: The list heretic... - --On 26. Even though I have the 45 (came w/my pre-ordered copy) I'd rather pay $3 for clean digital versions than take the time to encode scratchy crappy 45s... (Please note: All 45s are scratchy and crappy - I have no idea whether this one is particularly so. To all artists releasing songs only on 7" vinyl or, worse yet, only on cassette: get over yourself.) - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.wordpress.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 May 2010 13:59:44 -0700 From: "Nectar At Any Cost!" That's at LEAST six additional classic albums since MASS ROMANTIC... Beatles territory doesn't look too distant from here at all. I have a really idiosyncratic list of artists who completely owned their respective decades, and TNP shore did so to the last one. I'll have to give that Ted Leo a listen... my interest in him had dropped a little bit, but I'm pretty sure that's my fault and not his. - -Rex PS, if I decide to give Destroyer another shot, which record other than Rubies is the best? Because, like, I can't see Bejar's mirrors. ------------------------------ End of fegmaniax-digest V18 #103 ********************************
