I suppose that last item might be room for debate: are Cale's versions of "I'm Waiting for the Man" covers? I'd say no. - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.wordpress.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 May 2010 21:14:34 +0100 From: Rob Subject: Robyn on the radio Looking for something to listen to tonight while cooking, I started streaming the Radcliffe & Maconie show from Monday. Turns out it was a Syd Barrett special and Robyn was playing a Syd song plus one of his own. Have only listened to the first 30 minutes but so far Robyn seems to be sitting in as guest host in the absence of Stuart Maconie and enjoying himself. One interesting thing he suggested is that Propellor Time might be his last CD release. If he's serious, future new material will be download only. He cites the Phantom 45's as an example. Pete Jenner is also a guest, though I haven't got to the point where he appears. There's a link to the streaming version of the show via the link below. I believe that these iplayer streams are not limited to UK listeners only. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006wr8d/episodes/2010 R ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 May 2010 16:25:17 -0500 From: 2fs Subject: fuycking logic express being weird. Okay, first: I am a rank amateur, so do not assume I know the first damned thing about anything. Anyway: Am trying to create drum parts in Logic Express. I was editing one part, and all of a sudden my display turned utterly weird. I can still *hear* everything, but...(a) all the tracks (3 of them) are now called "snare" (except the one I changed after this happened to "assrat" to see if it made a difference: no), (b) the tracks are still what they were: that is, they play back appropriately; (c) I can solo only the actual "snare" track (not the kick drum or cymbals); (d) everything except the first 8 bars is not visible...again, even though everything plays. The 5,392-page manual is not helpful. (Nor are the 110,397 pages of online forum babblings, most of which is utterly incomprehensible to me, and commonly features admonishments to have read the 5,392 page manual before daring to ask any such thing.) Does anyone have the first frakking idea what's going on? I nearly destroyed my desk banging on it in frustration (note: this does not actually have any effect on the workings of applications running on laptops sitting on top of the desk). Fortunately I'd saved an earlier version - but the last two hours of work is either gone or unworkable with until I figure this out. - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.wordpress.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 May 2010 16:27:07 -0500 From: 2fs Subject: Re: fuycking logic express being weird. The intro is an Irish tune called "Drowsy Maggie". J ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 May 2010 09:08:06 -0700 From: "Nectar At Any Cost!" I realized when I covered that song for 39-40 that I had versions of that tune by the VU sung by Lou, the VU sung by Cale, Lou solo, Cale solo, Nico solo, and Mo solo, leaving only Sterling unaccounted for. I don't think that there is such a thing as a Sterling Morrison solo recording, and the world is a poorer place for it. - -Rex ------------------------------ End of fegmaniax-digest V18 #94 *******************************
