I think the recording has come out nicely - at the barrier I had no-one within 10 feet of me either side or behind me, with most people hanging back a bit. Hope the setlist is about right, please let me know about any corrections. Thanks to Pike1957 and ocelot for the recent recordings posted. I also taped Mike Heron which I'll try to sort out in the next few days. mp3 sample attached to comments. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 May 2010 14:35:56 -0400 From: ART ROCK POSTER Subject: NEW on DIME: Robyn Hitchcock - Islington Academy - London - 20th April 2010 http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=300462&hit=1 - ----- Forwarded message from DIME ----- A new torrent has been uploaded to DIME. I'd seen the Egyptians open for R.E.M. on the Green tour, but I'd never really heard of "them," so I didn't pay much attention. Hindsight... So this show was my introduction proper to Mr. Hitchcock. In the intervening 18 years I have been blessed to remain in Portland, OR, where he seems to enjoy playing and does so regularly. I've able to see him in many modes and with many players, in small venues and large halls. After I saw this show, I listened to this tape many, many times. You may note a minor tape glitch in there. I haven't listened to it in years, as I have been busy seeing his other shows, buying albums and, thank you dime, collecting myriad other live shows. Listening to this again, I can easily say this is one of the best performances I have heard, and certainly the best and most favorite that I have seen. The recording came out great for working with the set up that I had. The crowd was mostly excellent (in that they weren't talking incessantly) and the sound in the room was wonderful. I was blown away by what I was seeing and you will hear some of that at the end of the main set (You & Oblivion) and at the end of the show. One of those great and wonderful shows where you are taping but it was just to good to not clap or hoot...right before you cut the mics. Anyway, long intro, blah blah. This is a great show and you will be delighted to have it if you are even remotely into Robyn. Which is fine, because black vinyl is way cool, too. I'm still heavy into the new Joanna Newsom album.
