I coulda sworn I saw him or his nearest doppleganger on the uptown D train at about 5pm. He was on the other end of a crowded subway car talking to a woman with long red hair. It was stuffy and there were lots of people between us and I didn't want to be stalky so I didn't go over and ask. Our eyes met once and I got the same kind of bemused look he has when you talk to him after shows. Or I had really low blood sugar and imagined the whole thing. Fading back to yesterday, Chris ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Apr 2010 12:07:18 -0400 From: ross Subject: Score 1/60th of your Warholian 15 minute fame allocation!!! It appears my first posting of this bounced last Thursday. I'm recruiting monks for my GFIV project contribution: a rendition of The Face Of Death. The monks' chant is about 15 seconds long and will be used as the intro to the song. I tried recording a roomful of me, but it just sounds like a huge me -- not a group of individuals. I need your randomness! Here's the deal: Send me an email saying you're interested, and what kind of guide track you want (*.wav, *.flac, or *.mp3). I send you the guide tracks, and the lyrics -- in Latin. You get two versions of the audio track, one with me and my cold croaking the vocal part as a guide, and one with organ only for pitch and timing. The organ will be removed from the final version; it's just there to help keep us roughly in time. That said, timing and pitch aren't critical because we're not a singing group -- just a bunch of monks. Reverence is critical. Keep it sincere. You ride to fame or shame along with me. You send me a *.wav or some *uncompressed* audio format file (please, no *.mp3, *.aac, etc). I mix you with the other monks and credit you on the track as/if you wish. No reverb, delay or other effects, please; I'll add those to the congregation as a whole. The deadline for the project is next week. If you want in, you'll have to shake those sandals a bit. Monks.wave = ~8.8 mb monks.flac = ~3.5mb (depends on whether my croaking is included) monks.mp3 = ~575kb ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 26 Apr 2010 14:15:17 -0400 (EDT) From: Jill Brand Subject: all hail Michael Sweeney I've been meaning to write this since we returned from Chicago, but I still haven't managed to do the laundry yet. Michael Sweeney is THE MAN. We now possess a station-by-station account of the L (or El?), what to do when you get off, from which train to see what, etc. all because Michael blasted out a many-screened e-mail in the middle of the night before our 6:15 a.m. departure from Boston. That brings me to the topic of Chicago (my newly adopted city). My daughter has decided for sure that she wants to go to Northwestern, so we will be taking her to school this year (and visiting during others) sometime around September 10-12. Since she will want to be rid of us some/much of that time, I look forward to getting together with any fegs who feel the itch to socialize...but especially to meeting Michael in person. I really tried hard to find reasons to dissuade her from going to NU (because of the distance) but after visiting, I could come up with none. Yes, I know it's cold, but Melanie grew up in Boston, which is on the colder side of things even though it is not quite that frigid. She promised me she'd get a decent pair of boots.
