Nothing to complain about, nothing to get excited about. But I'm not that crazy about Fripp's Radiophonic-y solo output these days anyway. I'd rather go with Evening Star. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Mar 2010 11:05:30 +1300 From: grutness@slingshot.co.nz Subject: Re: eno & fripp >what's this? >http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007UT5LS > >do "we" like it? Beyond there, I couldn't live without Another Green World - it was the first of his work I heard and is hard-wired into memories of 1975 that I wouldn't want to lose (ditto Born To Run, Tonight's the Night, Patti Smith's Horses and Ian Hunter's first album). I'm with you on Wrong Way Up - love the thing. The first Cluster & Eno collaboration (which is the only one I've heard) is great too. (I really wish he hadn't scrapped the My Squelchy Life project, based on the few tracks in the II:vocal box set.) Of the instrumental work - big fan of Music For Airports, On Land & Discreet Music (both sides). The long pieces don't hold my interest so much (but then they aren't exactly supposed to, are they?); bits and pieces of Music For Films and Apollo are striking. The Jah Wobble "collaboration" Spinner is pretty nice but on the obscure side... ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Mar 2010 19:25:22 -0500 From: Steve Schiavo Subject: Re: eno & fripp On Mar 21, 2010, at 5:38 PM, lep wrote: > what's folks favourite eno Tiger Mountain, but it's damn hard to pick against Baby's on Fire. Every fucking song on that record is a killer, and I just think it's Beatles-esque in the best sense of the term. Yes we do. We also very much like the "Evening Star" album that Fripp and Eno did. We find the "No Pussyfooting" album a bit too abrasive and listen to it only rarely. But when we're in a mellow Eno mood, the album "Apollo: Atmospheres & Soundtracks" is required listening. No Fripp, but Roger Eno and Daniel Lanois make up for it. It is a masterpiece. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Mar 2010 13:27:31 -0400 From: Jeremy Osner Subject: A thought Has anyone ever contemplated (a) mashing up or (b) performing a medley of "Alright Yeah" with "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright"? ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Mar 2010 12:52:17 -0700 From: Rex Subject: Re: I give it to The Soft Boys On Mon, Mar 22, 2010 at 7:07 AM, 2fs wrote: > On Mon, Mar 22, 2010 at 1:14 AM, Rex wrote: > > > For those of you not aware of it, I have started a new blog-- one > reviewer > > says "batshit insane!"-- whereupon I attempt to cover one song, randomly > > selected for me by iTunes, every day. > > > > If you hadn't figured it out, that reviewer was me. > > That's "batshit insane" in a good way, of course. > Yes, I did know both of those things.
