He must be swinging through to visit Michele's family, since it seems to be a bit of a one-off. Hope they have the new CD at the merchandise table. Many are mightiily impressive, as I'm sure loads of you know. He's an artist that I think would appeal to many Robyn Hitchcock* fans, but I see only rare mentions of him here. One thing that did surprise me is that some of Harper's early work sounds like - of all people - Al Stewart, someone whose music i have often regarded as a bit of a guilty pleasure. Anyone else here like Al's music? Not familiar with Al Stewart, but early Harper is awesome. Later stuff is patchy, and recently live he can be exceptionally weak. "Flat Baroque & Berserk" is my favourite. Anyone else here like Al's music? > I really need to check out Roy Harper - the one album of his I've heard I like (Sophisticated Beggar). As for Al Stewart: I really liked YotC when it was a single, so I bought that album, and worked backwards to his prior 3 (I think) releases. Bought the followup to YotC, remember being kind of disappointed in it - seemed to be moving even more MORpopward. Haven't listened to his stuff for literally decades - since I've been doing a lot of re-evaluating of stuff I used to like, I shall add him to the list... - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.wordpress.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 Feb 2010 10:52:01 -0500 (EST) From: djini@voicenet.com Subject: television top 5 thread Tom Clark wrote: > > On Feb 9, 2010, at 12:13 PM, lep wrote: > > >> >> i'd be interested in knowing people's top 5 show for shows that are currently being >> run, > > (in no particular order) > Modern Family > 30 Rock > 24 > Amazing Race > Big Bang Theory > > >> watch on DVD > > Weeds > Curb Your Enthusiasm > Californication > Entourage > > >> ALL-TIME BEST SHOWS EVER. > > Seinfeld > Twin Peaks > > I reserve the right to augment this list at any time. > - -tc > Current shows: Weeds Skins (there's the British show for ya, Lauren) 30 Rock (de rigueur) Castle Having a hard time coming up with 5.
