Personally, I never give up the chance to throw my money at the pond. Um, not in the pond hopefully, but, you know, anything to declare my love of The Queenland. xo - -- "people with opinions just go around bothering one another." -- the buddha ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 Feb 2010 19:31:45 -0800 From: Subject: Propellor Time I think I remember that Robyn had some connection to whomever runs Sartorial. I'm guessing that it's his decision to release the record only through that label -- as he did with Shadow Cat, which never had a U.S. release either. There was also that Japanese release from a few years ago. But what's strange is that both of those were pretty heavily promoted through his website, and the website had a bunch of copies that we could order. I wrote David Greenberger, who used to run Robyn's website and has answered my questions before, but still have no response. There's still no way to contact anyone at Robyn's site. Has anyone tried his Myspace page? Date: Thu, 11 Feb 2010 23:31:09 -0600 From: 2fs Subject: Propellor Time & Yep Roc So...has anyone by chance talked to Robyn or anyone who'd know him? Maybe Yep Roc isn't putting it out because maybe RH doesn't want them to? It'd be nice to get some info here...I certainly hope Yep Roc isn't doing the dumbass "wait to release a domestic version" thing...because all of us dedicated fan types are just going to order or download the import and not buy the domestic one (unless, uh, we're suckered into it by bonus tracks...).

Definitely deserving of a wide release. I love the songs, and the production is interesting and strange. It sounds like what it is -- an album that was recorded quickly and has been fussed over for a long time since. Usually that works against Robyn's material, but here I think it gives it an interesting atmosphere. The strength of the songs is the best part, though. I can only imagine how much I'll like the songs when they're not interrupted every 30 seconds. http://peoplesmusicstore.com/catalogue_items/579818

Thanks, that's also available in the German store, for 6,99 $ (that's the Euro sign, probably about to be defanged). What's a little weird is that half the songs are credited to "Robyn Hitchcock & The Venus 3", whereas the other half is credited to "The Venus 3 & Robyn Hitchcock". WTF? Clerical error, or is there some deeper meaning behind that? Really, I know I'm a chemistry teacher and all, but this show is really one of the best things on TV right now. Amazing performances, nuanced dialogue, and absolute nail-biting tension. You already know about "Mad Men." I think that "Big Love" keeps getting better and better. I found last season utterly fascinating! I mean, the plural marriage stuff is pretty cool, but its the FLDS politics that really draws me in -- the Prophet, the compound, etc. Best TV shows ever? Well, let me plug "The Wire."
