Which is one thing, but the real problem is that 40% of these references take the form of a character yelling "Say hello to my little friend!" Another 59% are variations on "I love the smell of (x) in the morning." The remaining 1%? "We're going to need a bigger boat." Seriously, I heard the Scarface reference three times in one weekend, twice in the course of a showcase for kids 12 and under doing standup comedy. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 4 Feb 2010 16:59:01 -0800 From: Rex Subject: Re: Decemberists covering The Go-Betweens "Bye, Bye Pride" live last month! Chaplin isn't for everyone. And his films vary a lot, i.e. the "tramp" films are quite different from Limelight. If you decide to give it a try, my personal favorite would probably be "Modern Times". - -- Sebastian Hagedorn Am alten Stellwerk 22, 50733 Kvln, Germany http://www.uni-koeln.de/~a0620/ "Being just contaminates the void" - Robyn Hitchcock ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 06 Feb 2010 11:37:29 -0500 From: Great Quail Subject: Best-of-Decade Lists: Rock, Hip-Hop Eddie writes, > and, uh, quail? where in hell are your best-of-decade lists? dammit, man; > i'm getting impatient!
