In fact, my theme song for the show is The Soft Boys' "I Love Lucy"...and, the other day when we did overnight, I also played "I'm Falling" and "When I Was Dead" (along with a ton of Clash, some Nick Drake, Joan Armatrading, Mink DeVille, Beatle George, Lucinda Williams, and Lindsey Buckingham). We'll be on at 3 AM ('til 6 AM) early Monday, then our "regular" slot at 3 to 5 PM Mon aft., and THEN overnight ('til 6 AM again) starting at midnight Mon/Tue...whew... To expand: every year since (I think) 2000, RH has turned up at the Fleece and Firkin in Bristol with some sort of a band or other. The one just before the Soft Boys reformed was especially good, and there were several others, including two(?) Soft Boys gigs, two gigs with the American band and a revived IODOT gig featuring his sisters as well as Terry Edwards & co. I have just looked on the website for next month, and the only gigs advertised are: 20 Jan 2010 20:00 Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow, UK 21 Jan 2010 20:00 Brighton Dome, Brighton, UK 22 Jan 2010 20:00 Barbican Centre, London, UK 23 Jan 2010 20:00 Warwick Arts Centre, Coventry, UK Cape Farewell: Shift 30 Jan 2010 20:00 Queen Elizabeth Hall/Southbank Centre, London, UK Humph! - - Mike Godwin ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Dec 2009 14:43:50 -0500 From: Jeremy Osner Subject: Propellor Time Took a look at the new site and liked it. Did anyone notice, the new Venus 3 record is to be released in not too many moons -- according to http://www.robynhitchcock.com/propellortime/ it will be coming out in March. There are some broken links on the Info page which beg to be reported to whoever is maintaining the site; alas one of the links that is broken is the "Contact" one. But at least there's some comfort in the certainty that Joe Lieberman will be spending an eternity in hell, and there's not much of a health care plan there either. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Dec 2009 17:43:14 -0800 From: Terrence Marks Subject: Vic Chesnutt I've seriously been meaning to ask this for a few months now and feel bad that I didn't do it earlier. I really like About to Choke, especially Degenerate and Threads. I've heard mixed reviews of his other music. What'd be a good second album to get?
