[Miles Goosens Subject: Robyn's new guitar In case anyone cares, I discovered that the Airline guitars that Robyn and Scott are playing on the current tour are by Eastwood guitars of Ontario Canada (nothing to do with Fender!). Made in China and Korea. Robyn had a lovely metallic blue Twin Tone (copy of a 60's Supro Dual Tone) that retails at a mere $500. Scott had a white Airline Map bass - a copy of a National Newport. (about $800) You can see the whole guitar crazy lineup here: http://www.eastwoodguitars.com I love 'em! Interestingly, the website includes an endorsement by Bill Nelson and the artist list includes Stan Ridgeway, Julian Cope, Jeff Tweedy and Mathew Sweet as well as our own Scott McCaughey (among many others). ~N ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Oct 2009 06:53:58 -0400 From: "Stewart C. It's got a section for individual Beatles members, and if someone brings in a Beatles album for trade-in, he'll put it there, but Johnny don't carry no Beatles. Typical major label CD wholesales for a buck or so less than the high street stores sell it (and about the same as Amazon sells it). As Johnny says, if you want high street music, you know where to go. Stewart ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Oct 2009 06:56:16 -0400 From: "Stewart C. This came about after a Facebook discussion about the ill fit between iTunes selection of available fields and classical music. For classical fans, it's essential to ID such things as composer (that one exists) but also conductor, orchestra, performer(s), etc. The other suggestion was a "remixer" field and a "featured artist" field... - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.wordpress.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Oct 2009 00:48:05 -0500 From: Miles Goosens Subject: you know a Robyn Hitchcock tour is happening when... ...my blog, specifically my entry about this past April's Nashville show, gets three hits in a day from people looking for Hitchcock set list info. Me, I'll be hanging out at the Bluebird Cafe here in town on Saturday night for an unprecedented second Nashville show within the space of a year (unless you count 1990 when Robyn played two separate-admission solo shows at the Bluebird on the same night). Jeme Brelin and a pal of his are coming up from New Orleans, so it will also be a two-Feg Nashville show for the first time since (I think) Gary Parker and I were at a mid-'90s Bluebird show. In other news, my friend The Other Scott Miller (the ex-V-Roy) has released a boffo new song today, and it's about Spanishburg, WVa, which is in the next county over from where I grew up, and it's also in the county where I went to college and where Robyn and Kimberly played on that tour where Eddie followed them everywhere. Maybe this is a thin excuse to promote a song I like on Fegmaniax, but I think the American-friendly among us (which is a number greater than the number of West Virginians among us, I think) would dig it, if for no other reason, for the unexpectedly profane refrain toward the end. http://www.thescottmiller.com/scottmiller_losiento.html lo siento, Miles - -- now with blogspot retsin! http://readingpronunciation.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Oct 2009 23:22:49 -0700 From: Rex Subject: Re: you know a Robyn Hitchcock tour is happening when...
