The Head is a fascinating artifact. Initally appearing to be bronze but far too lightweight, it took me a couple of minutes to give up looking for moving parts and realize that it was some sort of cast. Some fascinating detailing, including a fuse and USB jack at the base of the skull. I gave it a 7, which sounds about right. i think i forgot to mention that i had expected it to be pretty bad - i was aware of the poor reviews i think since jane campion is generally quite well received. i was happy to put it down as "flawed" as opposed to "ouch." your rating of 7 seems fair to me. If we're talking German mathematicians, this is a pretty funny novel about the (mostly fictitious) life of Carl Friedrich Gauss: The book was a huge bestseller in Germany. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Jun 2009 08:05:16 -0500 From: 2fs Subject: Re: a cartoon for our very own Lauren On Thu, Jun 18, 2009 at 3:20 AM, lep wrote: > 2fs says: > > < > http://www.chron.com/apps/comics/showComic.mpl?date=2009/6/17&name=F_Minus > > > > i'm sure you'll find this hard to believe, but just last night, i was > talking about euler's phi function with someone... Funny thing: I don't find that at all hard to believe. I should get the David Hilbert one - he's very distantly related to my wife. I should also get the Gvdel one...and put it in the bathroom (you'll have to look at it, probably - and be aware that I have the mind of a 12-year-old). - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.wordpress.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Jun 2009 15:43:52 +0200 From: Sebastian Hagedorn Subject: Re: a cartoon for our very own Lauren - --On 18. Hilbert is one of my heroes, because when after 1933 the Nazis tried to introduce the abomination they called "German mathematics" and forced non-Aryan mathematicians out of the universities, Hilbert answered a question from the Nazi secretary of education regarding the state of the math department in Goettingen that it didn't even exist anymore without them. He was 72 at the time, and it was only a gesture without any real consequences, but at least he had the guts to stand up to those ignorant barbarians. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Jun 2009 13:58:55 EDT From: HwyCDRrev@aol.com Subject: REAP http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Bogle my blog is "Yer Blog" http://fab4yerblog.blogspot.com/ http://robotsarestealingmyluggage.blogspot.com/ **************Download the AOL Classifieds Toolbar for local deals at your fingertips.
