(well, rocked) 40 years ago this month the South Bay was buzzing with pre Altamont and pre Woodstock rock festivals. Here are a couple of articles from the local free weekly that I found interesting: http://www.metroactive.com/metro/05.20.09/music-0920.html http://www.metroactive.com/metro/05.27.09/alleys-0921.html And here's an original photo and handbill from the 1968 N. California Folk Rock Festival that we have on our wall: http://gallery.me.com/tclark#100003/NCFRF68 We go to the fairgrounds every year for the county fair - I can just imagine what it was like back then... - -tc ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 1 Jun 2009 10:27:57 -0500 From: michael wells Subject: movies you love to love > I'd be curious to see a current listing of fegs favorite films. That's...pretty major. Some price increases are likely - although if past is any precedent, people will not be compelled to change their plans (i.e., they'll be grandfathered under the old plan until they quit or upgrade). Amusing the way the article blandly asserts that older songs "are" 79c on iTunes - just last night I was looking for "I Can't Let Go" by the Hollies, which was 99c. I'm pretty sure 1966 should count as "older"... - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.wordpress.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 01 Jun 2009 12:58:06 -0400 From: "Stewart C. They'll probably take the opportunity to put the price up and put the number of downloads down (you notice in the news release it was *both*?), but we probably won't get the content. Don't know about whether Canadians can access this - you'll just have to pretend to be American ;-) As for the price increase: it's still like 42c per download, hardly a huge burden...and still less than half the price of iTunes or Amazon, so I think it's still a pretty good deal. - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.wordpress.com ------------------------------ End of fegmaniax-digest V17 #160 ********************************
