I'm thinking my dream RH live song would depend on who he was playing with -- I'd love to hear him play "Satellite" but maybe most of all if Grant Lee were also on stage... I want so bad to hear him sing "Birds in Perspex" and "Ride", but these would only be the complete RH-fantasy-concert experience if Morris were backing him up. Solo? I think "Guilford", maybe "Lady Waters and the Hooded One". (And of course "Happy the Golden Prince", but that's a different kind of dream concert.) With the Venus 3, as I said, "I watch the cars"; also "Viva Sea-Tac", "She doesn't exist anymore". A-and oh my God, I just had the thought of them playing "Eaten by her own dinner"... Well they're doing "Viva Sea-Tac" - or at least did, in the Seattle show someone had posted. - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.wordpress.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Apr 2009 09:30:25 -0700 From: Tom Clark Subject: Re: the library of memory (0% rh) Thank you sir. But you have to count the multiple personalities to make up a "band" right? I was instead referring to the greatest band to come out of this or any other state, Lil' Ed and the Blues Imperials. Their CHICKEN, GRAVY and BISCUITS is justly regarded as a classic (in some circles). Oh yeah, that house band at Chess Records led by Willie Dixon was OK too. And the Buckinghams, Staple Singers... MW P.s. I saw Mavis at Fitzgerald's a few years back right before her recent 'comeback' - still sounded great guesting on a couple of country numbers. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Apr 2009 22:40:28 -0500 From: 2fs Subject: Re: Best band from Illinois Will no one sing the praises of Styx?
